    摘要: An electronic watch includes a power source, an electrostatic motor including a rotor in which a plurality of electret films are arranged in a rotational direction and a plurality of fixed electrodes arranged in the rotational direction at positions facing the rotor, a hand rotating in conjunction with the rotation of the rotor, and a motor control circuit controlling the electrostatic motor. The motor control circuit selectively executes a hand movement mode for rotating the hand and a stop mode for keeping the hand stationary. In the stop mode, the motor control circuit keeps the rotor stationary through electrostatic forces exerted on the electret films from the fixed electrodes with the polarities of the fixed electrodes maintained.

    摘要: A method for providing illumination to a timepiece includes providing an array of LEDs arranged around a periphery of a substantially planar surface such that each LED in the array of LEDs emits light toward a center of the periphery. The substantially planar surface overlays a timepiece movement having a watch hand pinion that extends through a hole in the substantially planar surface. The substantially planar surface is bounded by a casing of the timepiece. The method also includes situating each of the LEDs in a diffuser layer extending across the substantially planar surface to scatter light emitted by each LED. The method also includes applying power to the array of LEDs such that each LED is driven at a current lower than a specified current for normal operation of the LED.

    摘要: A system, supplied by a power supply, is switched into standby mode by an electronic device that includes a charging input coupled to a charge voltage obtained from the voltage delivered by the power supply. A first input is coupled to the power supply and a power supply output is coupled to the system. A storage capacitive element is coupled to the charging input and configured to be charged by the charge voltage. A switching circuit, coupled between the first input and the power supply output, disconnects the power supply output from the first input when the voltage across the terminals of the storage capacitive element is higher than a threshold. A discharge circuit discharges the storage capacitive element so that the capacitor voltage becomes lower than the threshold. The switching circuit further re-connects the first input to the power supply output at the end of the discharge period.

    摘要: Provided is an electronic watch which achieves a highest-speed fast-forward operation of a step motor based on various environments under which the watch is placed, and enables low-power driving. The electronic watch includes: a normal pulse generator circuit configured to output a normal pulse SP for driving a step motor; a detection pulse generator circuit configured to output, after the step motor has been driven with the normal pulse SP, detection pulses DP1 and DP2 for detecting whether or not the step motor has been rotated; a pulse selection circuit configured to selectively output the normal pulse SP and the detection pulses DP1 and DP2; a rotation detector circuit configured to input detection signals DS1 and DS2 generated from the detection pulses DP1 and DP2, and to determine whether or not the step motor has been rotated; and a frequency selection circuit configured to determine a driving interval of the normal pulse SP, in which the rotation detector circuit is configured to instruct the frequency selection circuit to select a frequency corresponding to a position at which the detection signals DS1 and DS2 have been generated.

    摘要: An electronic timepiece includes a first switch connected to a signal line, a second switch, and a one-shot pulse signal generation circuit. The first switch is inserted into the signal line. One end of the second switch is connected to the signal line at a rear stage of the first switch, and the other end of the second switch is connected to a power source. The one-shot pulse signal generation circuit generates a one-shot pulse signal by using a reference clock signal, and the second switch is controlled by the one-shot pulse signal. The timepiece device can reduce currents flowing in a pull-down resistor or a pull-up resistor when a crown switch is turned on.

    摘要: An electronic timekeeping circuit and a method for operating an electronic timekeeping circuit are described. In one embodiment, an electronic timekeeping circuit includes power supplies and timekeeping circuit components that are grouped into power supply domains. Power is supplied to each of the power supply domains by a corresponding one of the power supplies. Timekeeping registers are duplicated for each of the power supply domains. The timekeeping registers are synchronized between the power supply domains if one of the timekeeping registers is modified or if one of the power supplies is turned off and subsequently turned back on. Other embodiments are also described.
