    摘要: A panel display using gold as a conductive element and a matrix of carbon fibers as emitters is presented. The invention provides a novel defined pixel width of three emitter fibers per cell wherein each cell is positioned within three emulsion layers of suspended nano-crystals stack positioned vertically atop one-another. Each of these respective layers is excited by a single carbon fiber. In the preferred embodiment, fiber length ends from each cell are positioned at the mid-point of each respective polymer layer thickness and produce one of red, green, or blue colors required to complete the image formation.

    摘要: An emitter has an electron supply layer and a tunneling layer formed on the electron supply layer. Optionally, an insulator layer is formed on the electron supply layer and has openings defined within in which the tunneling layer is formed. A cathode layer is formed on the tunneling layer to provide a surface for energy emissions of electrons and/or photons. Preferably, the emitter is subjected to an annealing process thereby increasing the supply of electrons tunneled from the electron supply layer to the cathode layer.

    摘要: A field emission cold cathode device of a lateral type includes a cathode electrode and gate electrode disposed on a major surface of a support substrate laterally side by side. The cathode electrode and gate electrode have side surfaces which oppose each other, and an emitter is disposed on the opposite side surface of the cathode electrode. The emitter includes a metal plating layer formed on the cathode electrode, and a plurality of granular or rod-shaped micro-bodies. The micro-bodies are consisting essentially of a material selected from the group consisting of fullerenes, carbon nanotubes, graphite, a material with a low work function, a material with a negative electron affinity, and a metal material, and are supported in the metal plating layer in a dispersed state.

As a result, it is possible to achieve a cathode for an electron tube applicable to a cathode-ray tube for a display in which the cutoff voltage is liable to change.

    摘要: An amorphous diamond electrical generator having a cathode at least partially coated with amorphous diamond material and an intermediate member coupled between the cathode and an anode. The amorphous diamond material can have at least about 90% carbon atoms with at least about 20% of the carbon atoms bonded in a distorted tetrahedral coordination. The amorphous diamond coating has an energy input surface in contact with a base member of the cathode and an electron emission surface opposite the energy input surface. The electron emission surface can have an asperity height of from about 10 to about 1,000 nanometers and is capable of emitting electrons upon input of a sufficient amount of energy. The intermediate member can be coupled to the electron emission surface of the amorphous diamond coating such that the intermediate member has a thermal conductivity of less than about 100 W/mK and a resistivity of less than about 80 nullnull-cm at 20null C. The amorphous diamond electrical generator is a thermionic emission device having improved electron emission properties.

    摘要: A method for fabricating the cathode plate of a carbon nano tube field emission display uses a photoconductive paste and etchable dielectric material to fabricate the cathode plate. The method combines photolithography process and etching process to fabricate a cathode electrode layer, a dielectric layer, a gate layer, and a carbon nano tube emission layer. Packing this cathode plate structure with a conventional anode plate together can form a carbon nano tube field emission array. The distribution of the electric field is uniform and the alignment at post-process is made easy.

    摘要: A method of fabricating a field emission device cathode using electrophoretic deposition of carbon nanotubes in which a separate step of depositing a binder material onto a substrate, is performed prior to carbon nanotube particle deposition. First, a binder layer is deposited on a substrate from a solution containing a binder material. The substrate having the binder material deposited thereon is then transferred into a carbon nanotube suspension bath allowing for coating of the carbon nanotube particles onto the substrate. Thermal processing of the coating transforms the binder layer properties which provides for the adhesion of the carbon nanotube particles to the binder material.
