摘要: The present application relates to polyurethane polymers produced by polymerizing a reactant mixture comprising triglycerides of Physaria fendleri, one or more polyisocyanates, and one or more polyols, wherein the triglycerides of Physaria fendleri have a hydroxyl value ranging from 90 milligrams of potassium hydroxide per gram of the triglycerides of Physaria fendleri to 250 milligrams of potassium hydroxide per gram of the triglycerides of Physaria fendleri. The present application also relates to polyester polymers produced by polymerizing a reactant mixture comprising triglycerides of Euphorbia Lagascae, and one or more dicarboxylic acids. Also disclosed are the methods of formation of the polyurethane and polyester polymers, and their use as adhesives.

摘要: An alkyd polymer composition for fast-drying, low VOC applications is provided. The alkyd polymer incorporates a minimum required level of a cyclic ether- and hydroxyl-containing composition formed from a sugar alcohol during the alcoholysis step while synthesizing the alkyd polymer. The disclosure also relates to the cyclic ether- and hydroxyl-containing composition which must have a minimum required level of cyclic ether structure incorporated therein in order to produce a sufficiently fast-drying alkyd polymer. Methods of making the cyclic ether- and hydroxyl-containing composition and the alkyd polymer comprising, as polymerized units, the cyclic ether- and hydroxyl-containing composition and a poly acid and/or an anhydride compound, as well as an optional polyol, other than the sugar alcohol, are also provided. Also provided is a 13 C NMR method of characterizing the necessary minimum required level of cyclic ether ring structure in the cyclic ether- and hydroxyl-containing composition and the alkyd polymer formed therefrom.

摘要: An end and monomer functionalized poly(propylene fumarate) polymer and methods for preparing this polymer, comprising isomerized residue of a maleic anhydride monomer and a functionalized propylene oxide monomer according to the formula: where n is an integer from more than 1 to 100; R is the residue of an initiating alcohol having a propargyl, norbornene, ketone or benzyl functional group; and R′ is a second functional group selected from the group consisting of propargyl groups, 2-nitrophenyl groups, and combinations thereof are disclosed. The end and monomer functional groups allow for post-polymerization modification with bioactive materials using “click” chemistries and use of the polymer for a variety of applications in medical fields, including, for example, 3-D printed polymer scaffold.

摘要: The present invention relates to a reaction product preparable by reacting (a) dimer fatty acids with (b) at least one compound (b) of the general structural formula (I) where R is a C3 to C6 alkylene radical and n correspondingly is selected such that the compound (b) possesses a number-average molecular weight of 120 to 445 g/mol, components (a) and (b) are used in a molar ratio of 0.7/2.3 to 1.6/1.7, and the resulting reaction product possesses a number-average molecular weight of 600 to 4000 g/mol and an acid number of less than 10 mg KOH/g. The invention further relates to a pigmented aqueous basecoat material which comprises this reaction product, and to the use of the reaction product in pigmented aqueous basecoat materials for improving adhesion. The present invention further relates to a method for producing multicoat paint systems, and also to the multicoat paint systems producible by means of said method.

摘要: Described herein polymer precursor compounds (aka polymer building blocks) of derived from biobased compounds, and specifically biobased mevalonolactone and its related derivatives. Through oxidation these biobased precursors can be reacted to yield building blocks for (unsaturated-) polyesters, polyester polyols and polyamides, as well as precursors for glycidyl esters and omega-alkenyl esters. Through reduction, these biobased precursors can be reacted to yield building blocks for (unsaturated-) polyesters, polyester polyols, polycarbonates, as well as precursors for glycidyl ethers and omega-alkenyl ethers. Through nucleophilic ring opening and/or amidation, these biobased precursors can be reacted to yield building blocks for polyester polyols, chain-extender for polyurethanes, or polyester-amides.
