    Abstract: Provided is an energy-saving, environmentally friendly biogas generation system that can reduce the generation of digestive fluid, can efficiently cause methane fermentation by removing ammonia in organic matter regardless of the freshness of the organic matter. The biogas generation system includes a sealed container 2 that contains the organic matter, a stirrer 3 that stirs the organic matter contained in the sealed container 2, a gas-fired boiler 4 that heats the inside of the sealed container 2 to a predetermined temperature, a vacuum pump 5 that reduces pressure in the sealed container 2, and a storage tank 6 that stores biogas generated by methane fermentation of the organic matter in the sealed container 2. Part of the biogas stored in the storage tank 6 is supplied to the gas-fired boiler 4 as fuel.

    Abstract: A method for biogas production includes feeding a receiving structure with a feed containing biomass that comprises lignocellulose and directing the feed from the receiving structure into an anaerobic secretome bioreactor (ASB) reactor environment which includes a synthetic microbial community consisting of at least one selected from extremophile thermophilic anaerobic microorganisms that are essentially acidogens and acetogens, the synthetic microbial community producing a secretome of exozymes. The ASB treated biomass is further directed to an aerobic digestion (AD) reactor environment, the ASB treated biomass being pasteurized so as to be essentially free of non-thermophilic microorganisms, the ASB treated biomass comprising liquid effluent containing solubilized biomass products and metabolized biomass products, and solid effluent. Contents or heat are recycled through a conduit between the ASB reactor environment and the AD reactor environment.

    Abstract: Systems and methods for treating media in large-scale bioreactors can include a method of using a large-scale bioreactor system. The method can include (a) mixing a mixture of at least cells, and media in a bioreactor, and (b) removing a portion of the media through an output port of the bioreactor. The method can also include (c) retaining the cells within the bioreactor using a screen covering the port. The method can also include (d) receiving a second media, which may in some examples include the portion of the first media removed from the bioreactor, into a media preparation container external to the bioreactor, (e) treating the second media within the media preparation container to produce oxygenated media within a threshold pH range, and (f) introducing the oxygenated media into the bioreactor using a return port of the bioreactor.

    Abstract: A multi-level port vessel includes a vessel body defining an interior volume. The vessel body has a front wall, a rear wall, two side walls, a bottom, and a top. The top is open and adapted to be covered by a removable lid. A vertically oriented mixing wheel is disposed within the interior volume. The vertically oriented mixing wheel has a substantially horizontal rotation axis when the vessel body is disposed on a substantially horizontal surface. A plurality of ports is disposed in one of the rear wall, the front wall, or the side walls. At least one port in the plurality of ports is located at an elevation that is at least partially encompassed by a projection of the perimeter of the vertically oriented mixing wheel.
