摘要: A composition includes a sugar source and inositol. The sugar source is one more sugars select from the group consisting of glucose, sucrose, sucrolose, tagatose, galactose, high fructose corn syrup, fructose, isoglucose, and rhamnose. The composition of sugar and inositol has an unique properties that prevents or limits the signaling of TNF-α and associated pro-inflammatory cytokines when metabolized by an individual consuming the composition. Accordingly, the composition can be advantageously used to control blood glucose levels, treat diabetes and related conditions as well as treat diseases based on an inflammatory response.

A benefit of the methods and systems disclosed herein can include the sustainable production of monosaccharides in an automated process. An additional benefit of the methods and systems herein can include the use of abundant feedstocks, such as carbon dioxide, for the efficient generation of select monosaccharides for use as nutrients and for other useful applications. Another benefit of the methods and systems disclosed herein can include reduction of excess carbon dioxide from the environment.

摘要: Hydroxycarboxylic acids may be biosynthesized from a carbonaceous feedstock and then isolated through forming and subsequently hydrolyzing an intermediate sophorolipid. After biosynthesizing a hydroxycarboxylic acid in a cell culture medium or otherwise providing a hydroxycarboxylic acid in a first aqueous medium, the hydroxycarboxylic acid and glucose may be converted into at least one sophorolipid by a suitable microorganism or an enzyme cocktail. The at least one sophorolipid may be then be separated from the cell culture medium or first aqueous medium and then hydrolyzed in a second aqueous medium to form the hydroxycarboxylic acid and glucose as free components separate from the cell culture medium or first aqueous medium. The hydroxycarboxylic acid is present as a phase separate from the second aqueous medium and the glucose remains in the second aqueous medium.
