    摘要: A pump for processing molten metal having an enlarged tubular body which houses a centrifugal lifting pump at its bottom end. The bottom end has a curved shape that aids in the formation and sustainability of: a) a forced vortex; b) a highly forced vortex; and c) a super forced vortex, depending on the application when it which receives the ejected molten metal from the lifting pump's impeller. The lifting pump is controlled to cause the vortex to climb up the inner wall of the body up to and out of an outlet formed in the upper end of the body. A recirculation centrifugal pump is mounted coaxially to and rotates with the lifting impeller.

    摘要: A method of pumping gaseous matter comprises a step of providing a pump rotor, intake port, exhaust port, and gas passageway. The gas passageway operatively connects the intake port to the exhaust port. The exhaust port is radially farther from the rotor's center axis than is the intake port. The method also includes a step of providing a stator and a step of rotationally driving the pump rotor relative to the stator in a manner causing gaseous matter to enter the gas passageway of the pump rotor via the intake port, to gain energy, and to move radially away from the center axis and out of the exhaust port. The gaseous matter has a supersonic velocity relative to the stator upon exiting the exhaust port. The method can be used to evacuate or compress gaseous matter.

    摘要: An improved design of a rotary pump is provided having a rotary pumping chamber with stationary axially disposed fluid inlet and outlet passages communicating therewith. To increase the rotational speed and the flow capacity, the axial inlet passage is enlarged in diameter to approach the diameter of the rotary pumping chamber. To impart the required rotational velocity to the fluid entering the chamber, vanes are provided in the rotating chamber immediately adjacent the axial annular inlet passage. The fluid pickup and discharge unit is defined by a hollow stationary member disposed in the rotary pumping chamber and having in one embodiment, a plurality of peripherally spaced inlet openings transversely positioned to receive the high rotating velocity fluid therein, and in another modification, a substantially continuous annular inlet opening in a radial plane. In all cases, the rotational energy of the fluid is converted within the pickup unit to a pressure head by flowing radially inwardly, and the pressured fluid is discharged through an axial portion of the pickup unit.

    摘要: A cordless electrically operated centrifugal pump for use in garden sprayers, fuel pumps and other applications. A cylindrical impellor is mounted for rotation within a cylindrical housing by a drive shaft connected to a battery operated motor. The impellor has a pair of diametrically directed passages intersecting at right angles at the center of the impellor. Fluid is supplied to the center of the impellor through a sealed inlet and ejected through the passages by centrifugal force as the impellor is rotated. This develops substantially high pressure within the housing for the ejection of fluid from the housing. The pump provides high pressure with a low volume output and low power requirements.

    摘要: A pitot pump having registering axial inlets in adjacent end walls of its outer housing and inner, rotary casing, a bearing between such end walls, and a seal axially outwardly of the bearing for minimizing fluid leakage into the outer housing externally of the rotary casing. The latter is provided thereon with radial vanes for creating a positive pressure in the housing and at the bearing to prevent any leakage through the seal from entering the bearing, thereby causing such leakage to escape through a drain in the housing.

    摘要: An absorption refrigeration system wherein there is provided fluid transfer apparatus comprising a stationary hermetic housing having a cylindrical nonferromagnetic wall encasing annular rotor means within the housing about which a rotatable scoop pump pan is connected for rotation therewith for circulating absorbent solution through the system. The rotor is supported in magnetically inductive relation through the nonferromagnetic housing wall with an annular stator located exteriorly of the hermetic housing. A second rotor is provided within the cylindrical stator for driving a fan for cooling the stator. The scoop pump includes sections for pumping strong solution to the absorber, weak solution to the generator, and refrigerant to the evaporator.
