    摘要: A panel of thermal insulation material has at least one main panel portion which comprises a dry particulate insulation material compressed within a porous envelope so that it is rigid or substantially rigid and at least one auxiliary panel portion which is secured to and extends along at least one of the edges of the or each of the main panel portions. The or each auxiliary panel portion comprises a substantially uncompressed dry particulate insulation material contained within an envelope. The insulation material of the auxiliary panel portion may be the same as or may be different from the insulation material of the main panel portion. The envelope of the auxiliary panel portion may be made of a porous or a non-porous material.

    摘要: A thermal insulating flexible ceramic based on a microporous oxide aerogel obtained from flame hydrolysis, especially a silica aerogel with elastically bending or limply bending inorganic fibers and possibly additional additive substances, such as opacifiers, has a portion by weight between about 10 and 30% of the flexible ceramic in the form of fibers with a length of more than 10 mm with a comparatively high bulk density of about 200 to 250 kg/m.sup.3, especially of about 350 kg/m.sup.3. Although no binder such as e.g. phenol resin is contained therein, said flexible ceramic in the case of a given high content of long fibers, has a high bending strength, but at the same time it is very resistant to breakage in the case even of multiple bendings around relatively small bending radii. For such a flexible ceramic, one may produce pliable thermal insulating foils (5) with low thicknesses (d) of, if necessary less than 1 mm, which still have considerable stability of shape, but which may be bent very well and may even be stamped. Furthermore, the flexible ceramic may be used for the formation of covered up insulating layers or of insulating layers laminated on both sides in thermal insulating elements possibly also of a more complicated molding. In order to be able to admix the high portion of long fibers without the formation of local fiber agglomerations, said fibers are admixed separated, e.g. by flakes, as a last component to the already finished premixture of the raw material.

    摘要: An insulation arrangement in which a sheath (2) having at least one thin deformable wall (3), for example of foil, contains a powder insulating material (10), with a high vacuum within the sheath. The vacuum can be drawn through an opening (8) after a filter (9) is inserted to prevent removing the powder when the vacuum is drawn. The insulation arrangement can take the form of a panel or a pipe, and the thin wall (3) can be mechanically deformed after the vacuum is drawn.

    摘要: High temperature enclosures such as furnaces have a lining of refractory/insulating modules arranged in side to side relation after the manner of bricks and secured to metal supporting structure by means of fastening members which are disposed between adjoining modules, have laterally and oppositely directed projections which penetrate the facing sides of such modules, and a foot which is secured to the structure. A packing strip of a ceramic fibre material is arranged under compression between adjoining modules. Each module has the form of a hollow box and consists of a block moulded in one piece from ceramic fibre with a front wall, the front face of which constitutes the hot face of the module, and side walls. The module may include a block of insulating material which is secured on the back of the ceramic fibre block and the enclosed cavity may contain further insulating material.

    摘要: Preformed foam insulation in longitudinal sections forming segments of an annulus are bonded to outer sheet metal covers. The segments are assembled about a pipeline which is to carry hot gas or oil in a cold climate such as the Arctic. To eliminate shear forces on the insulation because of differential thermal expansion and contraction of the pipe and the cover, the insulation has an inner diameter larger than the outer diameter of the pipe and friction reducing means is provided between the insulation and the pipe.
