摘要: Fluid treatment elements substantially inhibit electrical charge imbalances and/or build-ups of electrical charges. A fluid treatment element may comprise a multilayer composite including an electrically conductive fibrous matrix, having an upstream side and a downstream side, disposed on a porous substrate, also having an upstream side and a downstream side, which supports the fibrous matrix. The fibrous matrix may include a combination of conductive and nonconductive fibers, wherein the conductive fibers include metal, carbon, or conductive polymer fibers and substantially inhibit an electrical charge and/or build-up of electrical charge. The conductive fibers of the electrically conductive fibrous matrix may comprise less than about 50% by weight of the conductive and nonconductive fibers and may have diameters in the range from about 1 μm or less to about 10 μm. The multilayer composite may also include a drainage layer positioned along one of the upstream side of the fibrous matrix and the downstream side of the porous substrate.

摘要: The present invention provides a polymeric nonwoven web having a relatively small pore size, and made from mixtures of aramid and other non-aramid fibers. The fibrous nonwoven web has a high titer reduction with respect to coliphage PR772. The present invention provides the filter element incorporating the present inventive fibrous nonwoven web. The nonwoven web is also adapted to be use as human apparel and fashioned into garments.

摘要: A filter assembly for removing particulates from the exhaust gas of a diesel engine. The filter assembly includes a housing having an inlet pipe which may be coupled to the engine and an outlet pipe which may be open to the atmosphere, and a self-contained filtering mechanism disposed within the housing. An exhaust gas fluid path is defined from the inlet pipe through the self-contained filtering mechanism and out the outlet pipe. Each of the components of the self-contained filtering mechanism are highly resistant to high temperatures, so that the filtering mechanism may be electrically regenerated by heat, produced by a heater operatively associated with the filtering mechanism, which burns off accumulated, typically hydrocarbon, particulates.

For additional embodiments, the particular manner of support mounting to the membrane may include thermal-bonding techniques, and the particular method of analysis may include X-Ray luminescence.

摘要: An engine exhaust filter system comprises a housing and a pleated filter element. The housing includes an inlet and an outlet and defines an exhaust flow path between the inlet and the outlet. The pleated filter element is disposed in the exhaust gas flow path between the inlet and the outlet. The pleated filter element includes a filter medium and at least a first perforated support member, the filter medium being disposed adjacent to the perforated filter support member. The filter medium includes a portion extending beyond the perforated support member comprising a seal that prevents or reduces bypass of unfiltered exhaust gas around the pleated filter element.

摘要: Flexible, microporous, hydrophobic and oleophobic film-like composite structures comprised of from about 25 to about 75 parts by weight of inorganic reinforcing microfibers, particularly glass, and from about 75 to about 25 parts by weight of a polymeric binding agent, preferably a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate, the polymeric binding agent being in the form of a continuous matrix and derived from an emulsion or latex of the binding agent in which the particles of the binding agent are less than about 1 micrometer in size. A treating agent, preferably a fluorinated hydrocarbon, is present in an amount sufficient to render the composite structure hydrophobic and oleophobic.

摘要: Fire resistant thermal insulating composite structures, particularly garments, comprised of a mixture of from about 50 to about 94 percent by weight of inorganic microfibers, particularly glass, and about 50 to about 6 percent by weight of a heat resistant binding agent. The structures are porous, allowing them to breath. The structures are also flexible and pliant and have a Thermal Resistance of at least about 25 seconds.
