    摘要: Fluid treatment elements substantially inhibit electrical charge imbalances and/or build-ups of electrical charges. A fluid treatment element may comprise a multilayer composite including an electrically conductive fibrous matrix, having an upstream side and a downstream side, disposed on a porous substrate, also having an upstream side and a downstream side, which supports the fibrous matrix. The fibrous matrix may include a combination of conductive and nonconductive fibers, wherein the conductive fibers include metal, carbon, or conductive polymer fibers and substantially inhibit an electrical charge and/or build-up of electrical charge. The conductive fibers of the electrically conductive fibrous matrix may comprise less than about 50% by weight of the conductive and nonconductive fibers and may have diameters in the range from about 1 μm or less to about 10 μm. The multilayer composite may also include a drainage layer positioned along one of the upstream side of the fibrous matrix and the downstream side of the porous substrate.

    摘要: An engine exhaust filter system comprises a housing and a pleated filter element. The housing includes an inlet and an outlet and defines an exhaust flow path between the inlet and the outlet. The pleated filter element is disposed in the exhaust gas flow path between the inlet and the outlet. The pleated filter element includes a filter medium and at least a first perforated support member, the filter medium being disposed adjacent to the perforated filter support member. The filter medium includes a portion extending beyond the perforated support member comprising a seal that prevents or reduces bypass of unfiltered exhaust gas around the pleated filter element.

    摘要: Flexible, microporous, hydrophobic and oleophobic film-like composite structures comprised of from about 25 to about 75 parts by weight of inorganic reinforcing microfibers, particularly glass, and from about 75 to about 25 parts by weight of a polymeric binding agent, preferably a copolymer of ethylene and vinyl acetate, the polymeric binding agent being in the form of a continuous matrix and derived from an emulsion or latex of the binding agent in which the particles of the binding agent are less than about 1 micrometer in size. A treating agent, preferably a fluorinated hydrocarbon, is present in an amount sufficient to render the composite structure hydrophobic and oleophobic.
