摘要: Embodiments of the present invention are directed to a liquid delivery apparatus. A non-limiting example of the apparatus includes a substrate including a cavity formed in a surface of the substrate. The apparatus can also include a membrane disposed on the surface of the substrate covering an opening of the cavity. The apparatus can also include a hydrophobic layer disposed on the membrane. The apparatus can also include a seal disposed between the membrane and the substrate, wherein the seal surrounds the opening of the cavity. The apparatus can also include an electrode layer coupled to the membrane.

摘要: A refuelable electrochemical battery or cell is provided that features three phases of operation that repeat cyclically. In an intake phase, electrochemically active particles that are at least partially magnetic and a suitable electrolyte are admitted or fed into a cell cavity. In a power phase, oxidation and reduction reactions produce electrical energy while an electromagnet and/or permanent magnet attract the particles toward one electrode. A gas-diffusion membrane permeable by oxygen operates in conjunction with another electrode. During the exhaust phase, a piston forces residue of the reaction from the cavity to prepare for the next cycle of operation.

摘要: Corrosion mitigation in a battery may include displacing a first flowable medium with a second flowable medium along a first electrode to interrupt fluid communication of the first flowable medium with the first electrode—thus interrupting operation of the battery—while a second electrode remains in contact with a flowable medium (e.g., one or more of the first flowable medium or another flowable medium, such as a gel). For example, a membrane (e.g., an underwater oleophobic material) may be disposed between the first electrode and the second electrode. An oil may displace an aqueous electrolyte on a first side of the membrane toward a metallic electrode while the aqueous form of the electrolyte remains in contact with an air electrode on a second side of the separator membrane disposed toward the air electrode.

摘要: A metal-air battery includes a metal negative electrode (12), an oxygen-generating electrode placed on a surface of the metal negative electrode, and an air electrode placed on another surface of the metal negative electrode. The metal negative electrode includes at least a negative electrode active material layer facing the oxygen-generating electrode. A first separator placed in contact with the negative electrode active material layer is placed between the negative electrode active material layer and the oxygen-generating electrode.
