Abstract: A system for measuring a depth of a periodontal pocket defined by a gap between a tooth and gingiva includes a frame, one camera, and a processor. The frame is configured to be worn by a user. The camera is configured to capture at least one 2D image of an intraoral target area. The at least one 2D image includes a representation of at least a part of the tooth, a gingiva margin defined by a section of the gingiva adjacent to the at least a part of the tooth, and a probe tip when the probe tip is inserted into the periodontal pocket. The processor is configured to receive the captured at least one 2D image and to determine an insertion length of the probe tip in the periodontal pocket. The determined insertion length represents the depth of the periodontal pocket.

Abstract: A system and method are provided for reconstructing 3-D point cloud. A light source generates light that is received by a polarization field generator, which generates a polarization field that illuminates the target object being imaged such that each outgoing ray has a unique polarization state. A camera captures images of the illuminated target object and the captured images are received by a processor that: (1) performs a polarization field decoding algorithm that decodes the polarization field to obtain a set of incident rays; (2) performs a camera ray decoding algorithm to obtain a set of camera rays; (3) performs a ray-ray intersection algorithm that determines intersection points where the incident rays and the camera rays intersect; and (4) performs a 3-D reconstruction algorithm that uses the set of incident rays, the set of camera rays and the intersection points to reconstruct a 3-D point cloud of the target object.

The system extracts a set of features from at least one of the images. The system identifies the item based on the set of features. The system receives an indication that the item is not identified correctly. The system receives an identifier of the item. The system identifies the item based on the identifier of the item. The system feeds the identifier of the item and the images to the item identification model. The system retrains the item identification model to learn to associate the item to the images. The system updates the set of features based on the determined association between the item and the images.

Abstract: A dual-lens camera system includes a first lens, a second lens, an image sensor corresponding to a position of the first lens, and a reflecting assembly. The reflecting assembly includes a first reflecting member and a second reflecting member corresponding to a position of the second lens. The first reflecting member is movable between a first position at which an optical path from the first lens to the image sensor is blocked but an optical path from the second reflecting member to the image sensor is not blocked, and a second position at which the optical path from the first lens to the image sensor is not blocked but the optical path from the second reflective member to the image sensor is blocked. Only one image sensor is used in the dual-lens camera system, which saves cost and takes up less internal space of the electronic device.

Abstract: A method and apparatus for generating a three-dimensional depth map, are provided. The method comprising the steps of: (i) illuminating a target by a pattern projector having background intensity or by a combination of a pattern projector which does not have a background intensity operative together with a flood projector; (ii) capturing at least one image that comprises one or more objects present at the illuminated target; (iii) converting the at least one captured image into data; (iv) processing the data received from the conversion of the at least one captured image while filtering out the projected pattern from the processed data; (v) detecting edges of at least one of the one or more objects present at the illuminated target; and (vi) generating a three-dimensional depth map that comprises the at least one of the one or more objects whose edges have been determined.

Abstract: In a 3D imaging method using scanning-type coherent diffraction, a 2D photodetector detects diffraction of a coherent beam emitted from a light source that moves in a scanning manner toward a sample object to obtain multiple 2D diffraction data distributions; and a processor converts the 2D diffraction data distributions into multiple 3D intensity distributions in a reciprocal space, performs one or more iterations based on a sample function, a light source function and the 3D intensity distributions to obtain a phase-retrieval sample function, and generates a 3D reconstruction image of the sample object based on the phase-retrieval sample function.
