Abstract:
The present invention relates to an improved process for refining glyceride oil which incorporates a basic ionic liquid treatment. In particular, the basic ionic liquid treatment prevents or reduces the formation of chloropropanol fatty acid esters and glycidyl fatty acid esters during the overall refining process. The present invention also relates to glyceride oil compositions formed therefrom and uses of the basic ionic liquid.
Abstract:
A stretch blow moulding apparatus for forming an article from a parison using a mould. The apparatus comprises a stretch rod assembly; an actuating mechanism for extending and retracting the stretch rod assembly in an axial direction; and a fluid injector for injecting pressurised fluid into the parison. The stretch rod assembly comprises a body and at least one deployable member located at a free end of the body. The body and the at least one deployable member are movable in the axial direction and the at least one deployable member is deployable laterally from the axial direction.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a process for preparing alkanolamines, useful in the removal of CO 2 and/or H 2 S from a CO 2 and/or H 2 S containing gaseous stream, wherein the preparation of the alkanolamines is conducted using specifically selected ionic liquids under specifically selected reaction conditions.
Abstract:
An antenna system comprising a first antenna cell and at least one other antenna cell. Each antenna cell comprises a respective antenna element and generates, in use, a respective output signal from an input signal received during use. The other antenna cells include a phase locked loop (PLL) circuit for tracking changes in the phase of the received input signal. The PLL circuit includes an input for receiving a phase reference signal, the input being connected to the output of the first antenna cell to receive the output signal of said first antenna cell as its phase reference signal. The use of the phase modulated output signal as the reference input for the PLL allows the PLL to track phase changes as a result of relative movement between a source and a receiver, and to compensate for phase differences caused by the spacing between the respective antenna elements of the phased array.
Abstract:
A system for focusing and accelerating a beam of electrically charged particles, for example protons. The system comprises: a beam generator; a charge pulse generator;and a focusing and accelerating device comprising a body with a core. The body defines a charge path extending along the body and beam generator directs a beam of electrically charged particles through the core. The charge pulse generator simultaneously delivers charge pulses to the charge path. The charge path may be helical in shape. Movement of the charge pulse along the path creates an electric field that simultaneously accelerates and focuses the beam.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to deacidification of glyceride oils. The present invention provides a process for removing free fatty acids from glyceride oil, preferably palm oil, containing free fatty acids, said process comprising the steps of: (i) contacting the glyceride oil containing free fatty acids with the basic ionic liquid; wherein the basic ionic liquid has a basic anion selected from hydroxide, alkoxide, alkylcarbonate, hydrogen carbonate, serinate, prolinate, histidinate, threoninate, valinate, asparaginate, taurinate and lysinate; and a cation selected from: [N(R a )(R b )(R c )(R d )] + , wherein: R a , R b , R c and R d are each independently selected from hydrogen, a C 1 to C 8 , straight chain or branched alkyl group or a C 3 to C 6 cycloalkyl group, wherein said alkyl or cycloalkyl groups are unsubstituted or may be substituted by one to three groups selected from: C 1 to C 4 alkoxy, C 2 to C 8 alkoxyalkoxy, C 3 to C 6 cycloalkyl, -OH, -SH, - CO 2 (C 1 to C 6 )alkyl, -OC(O)(C 1 to C 6 )alkyl, or any two of R a , R b , R c and R d combine to form an alkylene chain -(CH 2 ) q - wherein q is from 3 to 6; and (ii) obtaining a treated glyceride oil having a reduced content of free fatty acid compared to the glyceride oil feed of step (i).
Abstract:
This invention relates to base oils for lubricating compositions. In particular, the present invention provides a process for the selective oligomerisation of C5 to C20 alpha-olefins to produce polyalphaolefin oligomers with a molecular weight distribution that is suitable for use in lubricant base oils.

Abstract:
A method of separating a plurality of source audio signals from a mixed signal. The method comprises: selecting respective training data for each source audio signal; for respective segments of data representing the mixed signal, determining which combination of a respective segment from each of the selected training data matches the respective segment of the data representing said mixed signal; and reconstructing each source audio signal using the segments of the respective selected training data that form a respective matching combination for each segment of said data representing the mixed signal. The method facilitates separating component speech signals from a single channel mixture of multiple speech signals.
