Abstract:
Substituted pentacene compounds comprise at least one substituent selected from the group consisting of electron-donating substituents, halogen substituents, and combinations thereof; the substituent(s) each being bonded to a carbon atom of a terminal ring of pentacene, and being the only substituent(s); with the proviso that when the compound has only two substituents, both of which are methyl or alkoxy, and one substituent is bonded to the number 2 carbon atom, the other substituent, if methyl, is bonded to the number 1, 3, 4, 8, or 11 carbon atom and, if alkoxy, is bonded to the number 1, 3, 4, 8, 9, or 11 carbon atom; and with the further proviso that when the compound has only four substituents, all of which are alkoxy, the substituents are bonded to the numbers 2, 3, 9, and 10 carbon atoms.
Abstract:
Novel stilbenoid compounds and their prodrug forms are disclosed, which serve as potent vascular targeting agents useful for the treatment of solid tumor cancers and other diseases associated with unwanted neovascularization. The novel stilbenoid compounds are tubulin-binding stilbenoid analogs structurally related to combretastatin A-1 and combretastatin A-4. The prodrug forms serve as potent vascular targeting agents (VTAs) useful for the treatment of solid tumor cancers and diseases associated with retinal neovascularization.
Abstract:
A process for producing a ring-substituted arene borane which comprises reacting a ring-substituted arene with an HB organic compound in the presence of a catalytically effective amount of an iridium or rhodium complex with three or more substituents, excluding hydrogen, bonded to the iridium or rhodium and a phosphorus organic ligand, which is at least in part bonded to the iridium or rhodium, to form the ring-substituted arene borane. Also provided are catalytic compounds for catalyzing the process comprising an iridium or rhodium complex with three or substituents, excluding hydrogen, bonded to the iridium or rhodium and optionally, a phosphorus organic ligand, which is at least in part bonded to the iridium or rhodium.
Abstract:
Activated Supports, support-bound activators, strongly acidic supports, and silylating supports are provided; the activated support having the formula (I) wherein L is a linking group component; X is F, CL, OH, and trisubstituted silyloxy; and the shaded circle represents a solid or semi-solid support. Methods of using the activated supports in solid phase organic synthesis are also provided.
Abstract:
Phenolic compounds with a phenolic molecule to which are covalently linked an oxygen-containing group, a nitrogen- or another oxygen containing group, and a C1-C4 alkoxy group, obtainable from monocotyledonous plants, animals that eat such plants, or chemical synthesis, have been found to act as an antidepressant or otherwise a treatment for bettering mood, a therapy for improving sexual desire or performance, an adjunctive therapy for achieving weight loss, and an adjunctive therapy for substance abuse and addiction. These compounds, at concentrations suitable for human therapeutic use, may be obtained from plants such as corn in their early growth stages and form parts of animals such as the velvet antler tips of deer and elk.

Abstract:
A method for production of aryl alkyl ethers comprises reacting a hydroxyaromatic compound with an alcohol in the presence of a catalyst, whereby the homogeneous mixture of hydroxyaromatic compound, alcohol and catalyst is introduced into the reactor at normal pressure, reacted at a temperature of 250 to about 370 DEG C and the product concentration in the reaction mixture adjusted such that the catalyst does not precipitate out.
Abstract:
This invention relates to novel solid support based on selenium and a method for the preparation thereof. The solid support is useful in solid phase synthesis of organic compounds including combinatorial libraries of compounds.
Abstract:
This invention relates to a novel, inventive process for the preparation of biphenyls or aromatic olefins by coupling reactions of the Suzuki coupling and Heck coupling type, using allylpalladium catalysts of the mu -halo(triisopropylphosphine)( eta -allyl)palladium(II) type.
Abstract:
Defoamers are the products of the reaction of epichlorohydrin and compounds having the formula (II) R3(EO)n(PO)mOH, wherein R3 is an alkyl, alkenyl or arenyl group having from 4 to 22 carbon atoms; a substituted alkyl or alkenyl group having from 4 to 22 carbon atoms wherein; n is a number from 0 to 50 and m is a number from 0 to 10; wherein the mole ratio of epichlorohydrin to (II) is from about 0.60/1 to about 2/1 are extremely efficient defoamers for aqueous surfactant systems. The defoamers are added to a surfactant in an amount sufficient to reduce or eliminate foam and have the advantage of being totally dispersible in water, are readily biodegradable, contain no organic solvents and do not affect the detergency of surfactants with which they are used because they are nonionic surfactants in themselves.
