Abstract:
The invention describes a process and a system involving the use of search engines by mobile stations on open networks for data communication and telecommunication. Seach engines are limited to index obtained search information in relation to the mobile station's position.
Abstract:
An information exchange method is provided. The method includes receiving interacting information input by a user, encoding the interacting information to obtain voice signals, sending the voice signals to a server, and receiving feedback information sent by the server indicating a processing result associated with the interacting information.

Abstract:
A system and method are disclosed for facilitating enhanced call awareness. A system incorporating teachings of the present disclosure may include an interface that receives a signal associated with a call to a telephone number. A call information engine may be coupled to the interface and may recognize that a party to the call subscribes to an enhanced call activity service. In some cases, the party may be a called party or a calling party, and the activity may include an incoming call to the telephone number, an outgoing call, a missed call, or a waiting voicemail message. A memory may maintain a data network address for the party, and a messaging engine may initiate sending of a message containing call information to the data network address. The message may be sent in response to a trigger signal output by a notification engine without consideration for whether or not a telephone line associated with the telephone number is busy.
Abstract:
A method and system for delivering and displaying content on a mobile handheld device with voice telephony capability. Content is received from or on behalf of a content provider. For each individual one of a plurality of mobile handheld devices, content appropriate for each device is determined. The content determined to be appropriate for each mobile handheld device is delivered individually to that mobile handheld device. It is then determined whether the mobile handheld device is in an internal and/or external predetermined status, wherein the internal predetermined status is a function of the mobile handheld device unrelated to the content. If the mobile handheld device is in the internal and/or external predetermined status, the content is displayed as a foreground to a top-level user interface of the mobile handheld device.
Abstract:
An improved system and method for scheduling Join or Leave operations in a MBMS system. When a Join operation or a Leave operation is initiated by user equipment, it is determined whether the current time is within a protection period. If the current time is within a protection period, a first random time is calculated and an operation message is scheduled for transmission at the first random time. If the current time is outside of a protection but within an allowed period, the operation message is scheduled for immediate transmission. If the current time is outside of a protection and outside of the allowed period, a second random time is calculated and the operation message is scheduled to be sent at the second random time.
Abstract:
A network edge telephony device for local audio message insertion comprises a network interface for receiving data from and transmitting data to a network, and a user interface for receiving data from and transmitting data to a user, the data including data representing an audio signal, and processing means coupled to the network and user interfaces, the processing means comprising a mixer adapted to locally mix a call progress tone derived in dependence on an audio signal received from the network or user interfaces with a data stream representing a pre-recorded audio message. Also provided is user event processing means coupled to the user and network interfaces, which is adapted to detect feedback from the user and generate and transmit an event data signal to a remote server via the network interface.
Abstract:
In a system and method for the display, or presentation, of electronic information in an ambient, or pre-attentive, form, a centralized server converts textual or quantitative data into a form suitable for remotely located non-textual ambient displays, or objects. The conversion, or translation, of the information occurs in response to a set of rules which may be fixed at the server, or otherwise modifiable by a user of the display, for example via Web-based interface, or at the display itself. The translated data, referred to herein as "ambient data" is in compressed, encoded form, so as to optimize the efficiency of its periodic transmission of such data to multiple remotely located recipient displays. In one example, the display comprises an analog-type gauge having a hand that varies in angular or linear offset, or multiple hands that independently vary in angular or linear offset, in response to the received ambient data. In another example, the transmission of data from the information server to the ambient displays occurs via a one-way or two-way wireless network.
Abstract:
The present invention discloses a system and method for controlling a display of a wireless terminal using a lock technique which can maximize exposure effects of specific contents. The system for controlling the display of the wireless terminal using the lock technique includes a user management means for storing personal information of a user who requests a display control service, and display control information for each terminal mode of the user; a contents provider management means for managing information of at least one contents provider who intends to push the contents information to the wireless terminal, and storing the information in the database; a contents information push means for pushing the contents information to the wireless terminal of the user by referring to the database, when the user intends to use the display control service or the contents information from the contents provider has been changed; and a display lock/unlock means for providing lock or unlock information to the wireless terminal or managing the information to prevent the user who uses the display control service from changing he display control information and contents information in the wireless terminal for a contract period. As a result, the user is prevented from changing the background display in which the contents information is displayed before expiration of the contract period, to maximize advertisement effects.
Abstract:
A user of a wireless device, such as a mobile phone, can make purchases or obtain information via a network, such as the Internet, using both voice and non-verbal methods. Users can submit voice queries and receive non-verbal replies, submit non-verbal queries and receive voice replies, or perform similar operations that marry the voice and data capabilities of modern mobile communication devices. The user may provide notification criteria indicating under what conditions a notification should be sent to the user's wireless device. When purchasing opportunities matching the selected notification criteria become available, the user is notified. The user an respond to the notification, and immediately take advantage of the purchasing opportunity if he so desires. Mixed-mode interactions can also be used by sellers to more advantageously control the marketing of distressed, time sensitive, or other merchandise/services.
