Abstract:
An amphiphilic functional substance which is constituted of an oligoolefin chain and one or two perfluoroalkyl groups bonded to the chain at either or both of its ends either through a poly(oxyalkylene)chain or directly, exhibits lipophilicity, affinity for supercritical CO2, and, if necessary, hydrophilicity, and permits the use of supercritical CO2 as a reaction solvent; a photopolymerizable functional substance which is constituted of an oligoolefin chain and one or two photopolymerization/dissociation reversible groups bonded to the chain at either or both of its ends, and a functional substance consisting of a photo- and/or thermo-dissociating polymer produced by photopolymerization of the photopolymerizable functional substance, which are useful as recyclable polymers; a hydrolyzable functional substance consisting of a polymer produced by linking two or more oligoolefin chains through ester linkages to conduct chain lengthening; a functional substance forming a micro phase separation structure, which consists of a polymaleimide comprising oligoolefin chains and polydimethyl- siloxane chains which are bonded to each other by imide linkages and is useful as functional material for electronic components and so on; and novel oligo(1-butene) having vinylidene groups at the ends, which is useful as a raw material in producing the above functional substances.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a method for producing polymer-bonded 2-chlorotrityl chloride of formula (I), wherein P means a polymer support, preferably cross-linked polystyrene, by reacting a corresponding carboxylic acid with hydrogen chloride. The method enables the support resin from the solid-phase peptide synthesis produced after the splitting-off of the peptide to be re-used.
Abstract:
A process for producing a vinyl polymer having a functional group at an end which comprises a step in which a vinyl monomer is polymerized by radical polymerization in the presence of a halogen compound to synthesize a vinyl polymer having a halogen atom at an end and a step in which the terminal halogen atom of the vinyl polymer is replaced with a group having a functional group to incorporate the functional group into the end, wherein the halogen compound has a structure which comprises an aromatic ring, a carbon atom bonded to the ring, and the halogen atom bonded to the carbon atom and the radical polymerization is conducted by irradiation with light optionally in the presence of a compound of a metal in Groups 14 to 16 or by heating in the presence of a compound of a metal in Groups 14 to 16; and a polymer produced by the process.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the post-polymerization fluorination methods of polymers produced via ring-opening metathesis polymerization. Unlike prior art methods that result in low product yields and generally involve chemically aggressive reagents, the inventive methods produce fluorinated polymers in quantitative yields and under mild conditions. In preferred embodiments, a source of difluorocarbene is reacted with the desired polydiene to form a fluorinated polymer product. In preferred embodiments, the source of difluorocarbene is hexafluoropropylene oxide and the polydiene is poly-dicyclopentadiene ("poly-DCPD"). Fluorination and the concomitant removal of unsaturated bonds result in polymers having improved physical properties such as improved strength characteristics, enhanced oxidative and chemical stability, and low surface energies.
Abstract:
