Abstract:
The present disclosure provides methods for enhancing muscle protein synthesis in an individual in need of same. Specifically, the present disclosure provides methods for enhancing muscle protein synthesis by enhancing myofibrillar muscle protein synthesis. The method includes administering to the individual a mixed macronutrient composition having (i) an amount of whey protein that is not capable of enhancing myofibrillar protein synthesis when ingested by itself and (ii) free leucine. The composition comprises at least about 5.0 g total leucine per dose.
Abstract:
Nutritional compositions and methods of making and using the nutritional compositions are provided. In a general embodiment, the present disclosure provides nutritional compositions having whey protein micelles and leucine. The nutritional compositions provide a sufficient amount of leucine to improve protein synthesis in humans, while also maintaining a low-viscosity fluid matrix and acceptable organoleptic properties.
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to the field of nutrition, in particular performance nutrition. In particular, the present invention relates to a novel carbohydrate gel comprising glucose and fructose in a ratio in the range of 3:1 to 1 :1. The carbohydrate gel of the present invention can be used to treat or prevent problems with the gastrointestinal tract while allowing for an enhanced blood sugar maintenance and/or an increased exogenous carbohydrate oxidation.
Abstract:
The present disclosure provides methods for enhancing muscle protein synthesis following physical exertion. In a general embodiment, a method for enhancing muscle protein synthesis following physical exertion is provided and includes administering to an individual a composition comprising from about 15 to about 35 g protein immediately following concurrent training. Programs for enhancing muscle adaptation resulting from concurrent training are also provided. The programs include providing a composition comprising from about 15 to about 35 g protein; and providing guidelines for consumption including a recommendation of the amount of the composition to consume immediately following concurrent training.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to whey protein micelles for use in the treatment and/or prevention of a condition linked to a reduced concentration of plasma amino acids in a patient. A further aspect of the invention is a meal replacement comprising whey protein micelles.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to the field of nutritional compositions. In particular, the present invention relates to a nutritional composition comprising sugar substitutes and to their use, e.g., to increase exogenous carbohydrate oxidation, which has been shown to increase performance, for example the performance of athletes.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a non-therapeutic use of whey protein micelles to enhance muscle protein synthesis in a subject. Further aspects of the invention are food compositions comprising whey protein micelles to be administered to children, athletes or elderly persons.
Abstract:
Methods utilizing either bite-size nutritional products or large individual protein doses for customized protein intake are provided. In a general embodiment, the present disclosure provides a method of providing nutrition to an athlete. The method comprises providing a protein-based regimen that can alter the availability of amino acids to the athlete without providing different types of fast or slow type proteins (e.g., whey or casein, respectively) and providing personal guidelines for consuming protein-based products that comprise the protein-based regimen while exercising.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to a method of enhancing muscle protein synthesis following physical exertion comprising administering to a human a composition comprising protein or essential amino acids and carbohydrates 30 minutes or less prior to, during, or within 30 minutes of running repeated sprints. Further, the invention relates to a program for enhancing muscle adaptation resulting from repeated sprints training.
Abstract:
The present invention generally relates to the field of nutrition, in particular performance nutrition. In particular, the present invention relates to a novel carbohydrate bar comprising glucose and fructose in a ratio in the range of 3:1 to 1 :1. The carbohydrate bar of the present invention can be used to treat or prevent problems with the gastrointestinal tract while allowing for an enhanced blood sugar maintenance and/or an increased exogenous carbohydrate oxidation.
