The upconverting material is capable of emitting light at a first wavelength that has an energy equal to or higher than the band gap of the photocatalyst material and at a second wavelength that can be absorbed by the plasmonic metal nanostructures.

A method for preparing a bifunctional electrocatalyst is provided, which comprises: adding a nickel source compound and a ferric iron source compound into a solvent of ethanol; adding a urea into the obtained solution to give a mixture; drying the mixture; grinding the dried mixture into homogeneous powders and then subjecting the homogeneous powders to a heating process under inert atmosphere. The bifunctional electrocatalyst could simultaneously promote HER and OER processes in alkaline solution.

A process for vapor-phase methanol carbonylation to methyl formate, a supported nano-scaled platinum group metal heterogeneous catalyst used in said process and a method for preparing said catalyst are disclosed. A feed gas containing methanol, carbon monoxide, hydrogen and oxygen is passed through a reactor loaded with supported nano-scaled platinum group metal heterogeneous catalyst to produce methyl formate by vapor-phase carbonylation reaction, in the reaction conditions with a space velocity of 500-5000h -1 , a temperature of 50-150°C and a pressure of 0.01-2MPa. The active component of the supported nano-scaled platinum group metal heterogeneous catalyst is platinum group metal with a particle size of 0.5-10nm. The process and catalyst solve the problems in present industrial technology, such as high requirement for the purity of raw materials, severe corrosion of the equipment by catalyst, difficult separation of catalyst from product, high reaction pressure, difficult operation and the like, and provide a novel technical way to produce methyl formate.

The invention concerns a particle for recovering an anion from an aqueous solution comprising a magnetic material associated with a silica based layer forming a magnetic microparticle with a silica based surface, and a layered double hydroxide deposited on the surface of the microparticle. The invention further concerns a method for manufacturing a magnetic particle comprising mixing a magnetic microparticle with a silica based surface in an aqueous solution at about pH 7 with a dispersion of layered double hydroxide at about pH 7 to obtain a mixture, and ultrasonicating the mixture for depositing the layered double hydroxide on the surface of the microparticle. In addition, the invention concerns various uses of the particle.
