Abstract:
A hydrophilic member includes a base material; and a layer containing a hydrophilic material (1) and an oligomer or polymer (2), the layer is a composition gradient layer in which a composition of (1) and (2) continuously changes in a thickness direction of the layer in such a manner that a ratio of (1) becomes large, whereas a ratio of (2) becomes small, from the nearest side to the base material toward the farthest side to the base material, the hydrophilic material (1) is a hydrophilic material containing a hydrolyzable silyl group-containing hydrophilic polymer, the polymer having at least one hydrolyzable silyl group represented by the formula (a) as defined herein at a main chain end or side chain of a molecule thereof and having at least one hydrophilic group in the molecule, and the oligomer or polymer (2) is different from the hydrophilic polymer (1).
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present invention is related to a method for protecting a metal substrate against corrosion comprising the step of: -generating a plasma in a gaseous medium by means of a plasma device; -placing the substrate in contact with the plasma, or in a post-plasma area of said plasma; -introducing in said plasma or in said post-plasma area a corrosion inhibitor along with an organic precursor, thereby depositing a barrier layer comprising the corrosion inhibitor, the deposited layer protecting the metal substrate against corrosion.
Abstract:
A method for forming a vapor deposition film composed of a silicon oxide on a surface of a substrate is disclosed in which the substrate to be processed is held in a plasma processing chamber and a chemical plasma processing is conducted by supplying an organic silicon compound and an oxidizing gas into the processing chamber. By changing the supply rate of the oxidizing gas during formation of a deposition film while keeping the supply rate of the organic silicon compound gas at a certain fixed rate, there can be formed a chemical vapor deposition film which is excellent in adhesion, plasticity, flexibility, oxygen barrier property and moisture barrier property.
Abstract:
Abstract:
The present disclosure describes a protective coating for a low index material, and a process for preparing a protected low index material. The protective coating partially penetrates the pores of a low index material, providing a seal protecting the pores, and can strengthen the construction by forming a gradient in properties of the protected low index material. The present disclosure further provides a diffusing low index optical element having a protected low index material and a diffusing layer disposed on the low index material.
Abstract:
The present disclosure generally relates to patterned gradient polymer films and methods for making the same, and more particularly to patterned gradient optical films that have regions that include variations in optical properties such as refractive index, haze, transmission, clarity, or a combination thereof. The variation in optical properties can occur across a transverse plane of the film as well as through a thickness direction of the film.
