Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft chirale Verbindungen mit zwei optisch aktiven Phosphoratomen, chirale Übergangsmetallkatalysatoren, die diese Verbindungen als Liganden enthalten, ein Verfahren zur Herstellung der P-chiralen Verbindungen und Verfahren zur asymmetrischen Synthese unter Einsatz der chiralen Übergangsmetallkatalysatoren. Die vorliegende Erfindung betrifft speziell ein Verfahren zur Herstellung einer optisch aktiven Carbonylverbindung durch asymmetrische Hydrierung einer prochiralen α,β-ungesättigter Carbonylverbindung mit Wasserstoff in Gegenwart eines erfindungsgemäßen optisch aktiven Übergangsmetall-Katalysators. Noch spezieller betrifft die vorliegende Erfindung ein Verfahren zur asymmetrischen Hydrierung von Citral sowie ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von optisch aktivem Menthol.

This disclosure provides for a process for preparing a catalyst system comprising a) contacting a metal compound, a diphosphino aminyl ligand metal complex, and a metal alkyl for a time period to form a mixture; and b) aging the mixture. The disclosure also provides for olefin oligomerization process comprising: a) contacting i) a metal compound, ii) a diphosphino aminyl ligand, and iii) a metal alkyl to form a mixture; b) aging the mixture; c) contacting the aged mixture with an olefin monomer; and d) forming an olefin oligomer product.

N 2 -phosphinyl amidine compounds, N 2 -phosphinyl amidinates, N 2 -phosphinyl amidine metal salt complexes, N 2 -phosphinyl amidinate metal salt complexes are described. Methods for making N 2 -phosphinyl amidine compounds, N 2 -phosphinyl amidinates, N 2 -phosphinyl amidine metal salt complexes, and N 2 -phosphinyl amidinate metal salt complexes are also disclosed. Catalyst systems utilizing the N 2 -phosphinyl amidine metal salt complexes and N2-phosphinyl amidinate metal salt complexes are also disclosed along with the use of the N 2 -phosphinyl amidine compounds, N 2 -phosphinyl amidinates, N 2 -phosphinyl amidine metal salt complexes, and N 2 -phosphinyl amidinate metal salt complexes for the oligomerization and/or polymerization of olefins.
