Abstract:
The present invention relates to an apparatus (10) for handling telephone calls which comprises: means for configuring the operation of the apparatus based on user preferences relating to the handling of calls from particular callers, means for storing the user preferences, means for processing incoming calls based on the user preferences, and means for receiving updates to the user preferences in dependence on changes to a preference database for storing the preferences of at least one user. The invention also relates to a telecommunications system, and to an associated server.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A user that is using both CS (GSM) and IMS (MMTeL) domains needs to be provided a consistent service and thus a choice has to be made as to which data model is going to be used either GSM or MMTeL, for this reason a software updating system and method are described. The system for updating communication services includes user equipment (e.g. GSM 110, 510, 610) configured to communicate using a first communication service standard (140, 530, 630) and a second communication service standard (e.g. IMS, MMTeL), a subscriber database, an application server, and a network device. The network device detects an update trigger corresponding to a user equipment, requests that the user equipment discontinue using the first communication service standard, and flags the user equipment as updated by communicating with the application server and the subscriber database, The network device also receives a communication from the user equipment and determines whether the communication corresponds to the first communication service standard or the second communication service standard. If the communication corresponds to the first communication service standard the network device communicates an error message to the user equipment. However, if the communication corresponds to a second communication service standard, the network device processes the communication.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a telecommunications system comprising at least a terminal (11) from which a connection can be set up to the Internet (12); and an exchange (14) for routing calls on the basis of information in a register (16). The system further comprises an Internet server (13) comprising means for controlling the instalment of the software required in the terminal (11) for making and receiving VoIP calls and the activation of the application required for making and receiving VoIP calls as a response to the request transmitted from the terminal (11); means for changing call forwarding information in the register (16); means for converting the data flow transmitted from the exchange (14) to the terminal (11) into a mode suitable for the terminal (11).
Abstract:
A control device may wake-up a target wireless device through a wired or wireless communications channel. In an implementation, the control device and the wireless device may include a cellular module (e.g., global systems for mobile communications (GSM) capability) to implement an on-demand wake-up call. The on-demand wake-up call may allow the control device to perform at least one task at the wireless device without user intervention at the wireless device.
Abstract:
A telecommunications switching network or Intelligent Network Architecture (170) includes a novel central administration (500) and Resource Complex (180) for administering and tracking service resources to a plurality of nodes (204) capable of telecommunications service processing.
Abstract:
Abstract:
A wireless communications network (2) including a fixed master communication device (4) capable of initiating an action or requesting a service on the wireless communication network and a mobile slave communication device (6) to wirelessly communicate with the master communication device. The slave communication device (6) registers with the master communication device (4) to determine a location of the slave communication device and the slave communication device automatically downloads a location-specific portal corresponding to the location of the slave communication device from the master communication device (40-50). Further, communication controls of the slave communication device can be set according to the specific location by referring to a location distribution profile server (27) when the location of the device is determined (52-62).
Abstract:
System and methodology for providing real-time call processing services received at a switch (158) in an intelligent network having one or more service nodes (204) having originating switches for receiving a call event. The system includes a platform-independent communication system for enabling communication between object instances executing at service nodes (204) in the intelligent network. An operating system agent object (204) instance executing in an execution environment associated with an originating switch communicates call origination information corresponding to a call event received at the switch to one or more object instances executing in an execution environment provided at a service node (204) in the network; the object instances including a line object instance for maintaining the state of a communications line associated with a call origination, and, a service object implementing methods for performing a service according to a customer request.
