    摘要: A microplate (10) and a method for manufacturing microplates. The microplate (10) is designed to reduce optical cross-talk during the assaying of samples. The microplate (10) comprises a plurality of wells (12) having light impermeable sidewalls (16), a layer of light permeable material forming a bottom (20) of the wells (12), and ribs (22) of light impermeable material extending through the layer of light permeable material. The method includes steps of inserting a plate of light permeable material into a mold cavity that includes sections shaped to form the sidewalls of the plurality of wells, injecting molten light impermeable material into the mold cavity, and cooling the light impermeable material to form the microplate with the light impermeable material forming the sidewalls of each of the plurality of wells and the plate of light permeable material forming the bottom wall of each of the plurality of wells.

    摘要: A silicon-based sleeve type chemical reaction chamber (41) that combines heaters, such as doped polysilicon for heating, and bulk silicon for convection cooling. The reaction chamber combines a critical ratio of silicon and silicon nitride to the volume of material to be heated (e.g., a liquid) in order to provide uniform heating, yet low power requirements. The reaction chamber will also allow the introduction of a secondary tube (45) (e.g., plastic) into the reaction sleeve that contains the reaction mixture thereby alleviating any potential materials incompatibility issues. The reaction chamber may be utilized in any chemical reaction system for synthesis or processing of organic, inorganic, or biochemical reactions, such as the polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and/or other DNA reactions, such as the ligase chain reaction, which are examples of a synthetic, thermal-cycling-based reaction. The reaction chamber may be used in synthesis instruments, particularly those for DNA amplification and synthesis.

    摘要: A microtitration plate (40) has at least one sample container (45) and a lid (41) that covers the container openings when it is laid on the microtitration plate. The microtitration plate (40) and the lid (41) are made of a transparent material. The microtitration plate (40) is characterised in that liquid-tight walls that surround the opening of each container are designed on the plate (40) and delimit a space open at the top with a larger cross-section than that of the container opening. The flat closing surface (43) at the free end of the shoulder (42) covers at least the cross-section of the container opening and lies on the container opening when the lid is set on and completely lowered onto the container.
