The invention pertains to the methods of obtaining anisotropic crystalline films and to devices for carrying out the methods. A colloidal system with anisometric particles is applied as a film onto the surface of a substrate (1) while the viscosity of the colloidal system is lowered. The particles of the colloidal system with lowered viscosity are oriented and the original viscosity of the colloidal system is restored. The film is then dried. The drying is carried out under controlled conditions. Zones of the dried film may be progressively heated to improve the film characteristics.

Air (35) from a blowing and suctioning device (34) is sent to the casting film (40) to generate droplets (44). The relative speed of drying air (37) to the moving speed of the casting blet (26) is adjusted at 5m/min in parallel flow. The water in the drying air (37) is condensed in the casting film (40) to form the droplets (44). The droplets (44) are evaporated after evaporating the organic solvent in the casting film (40), so that a honeycomb-structure film (12) can be obtained.

A water-soluble film which comprises a saccharide component and a vinyl alcohol resin component, where the vinyl alcohol resin may include functional comonomer units such as sulfonic acid functional groups or salts thereof. The films exhibit superior resistance to aggressive oxidizing chemicals and remain soluble in water after prolonged exposure thereto. The films are particularly useful for unit-dose packaging of chlorine-containing pool chemicals, such as trichloroisocyanuric acid.
