In addition, the control portion sets a hold current applied to the motor from an elapse of the predetermined period after reception of the materials by the hopper to the start of discharging the materials from a discharge port of the hopper, to a second hold current value that is smaller than the first hold current value, the second hold current value applying to the shutter a torque against a force released downwardly under a load in the gravity direction of the materials.

The invention relates to a composite plate (14) which comprises a ceramic plate (10), especially an electrically insulating oxide ceramic plate. Said ceramic plate is linked at least on one side to a metal sheet (11) via a thin reaction zone (13) across its surface and in positive material fit. Said reaction zone (13) contains a solidified eutectic melt of the metal of which the metal sheet (11) substantially consists. The invention provides a means of simplifying the production while improving the properties of use of such a plate by using a silver sheet for the metal sheet (11).

A glazed ceramic article is provided which comprises a glaze layer (71; 71'b, 71'c; 102a) formed on an outer surface of a ceramic main body (10a; 10'b, 10'c; 102b). The glaze layer (71; 71'b, 71'c; 102a) is made of a glaze comprising 60 to 74 % by weight of Si when calculated in terms of SiO 2 and 16 to 30 % by weight of Al when calculated in terms of Al 2 O 3 . Such a composition can raise the softening temperature and can prevent deterioration of the appearance due to the surface roughening caused at the time of soldering of a metallic member (61; 101) to the ceramic main body (10; 10') after glost firing and deterioration of the insulation ability due to adherence of dirt to the surface of the glaze layer. A metal and ceramic assembly having such a glazed ceramic article, and a vacuum switch having such a metal and ceramic assembly are also provided.

A structure comprising a silicon-containing ceramic sinter and an active metal-containing metal layer as a brazing material layer or a metallization layer joined to and disposed on the surface of the ceramic sinter. A reaction layer of a compound comprising elements constituting the ceramic sinter and the active metal is formed in the interface between the sinter and the metal layer. The reaction layer is present ahead of the outer periphery of the metal layer. In particular, when the ceramic sinter is a silicon nitride sinter with the active metal being titanium, the reaction layer comprises a first reaction layer composed mainly of titanium nitride and a second reaction layer composed mainly of titanium silicide. The first reaction layer is present ahead of the outer periphery of the second reaction layer. According to the brazing structure and the metallized structure, the characteristics of the metal layer containing the active metal, such as joint strength, can be enhanced with good reproducibility.
