A measurement tuple (mt) is supplied which measurement tuple (mt) comprises a set of tuple elements with each tuple element (mtx) of the set of tuple elements (mtx) providing a value measured by a dedicated cell of the chemical sensor and/or under a dedicated operating condition of the chemical sensor or of a cell of the chemical sensor. The measurement tuple (mt) is compared to one or more reference tuples (rt) with each reference tuple (rt) representing an odour and/or gas and comprising a set of tuple elements and an identifier (id) for the odour and/or gas represented by the reference tuple (rt). Each tuple element of the set of tuple elements of the reference tuple (rt) provides a value characteristic for being sensed by the dedicated cell of the chemical sensor and/or under the dedicated operating condition of the chemical sensor or of the cell of the chemical sensor in the presence of the odour and/or gas represented by the concerned reference tuple (rt). One or more odour and/or gas identifiers (id) are returned to the portable electronic device subject to a result of the comparison.

It is referred to a flow control arrangement and a method for controlling the flow of a fluid. Given that the sensor device supports measurements for determining an average flow of a fluid, a sensor signal (T(t)) of a flow sensor (2) of the sensor device is first linearized and subsequently processed, and supplied as actual flow to a controller (14) for controlling an ON/OFF valve (16). The linearized signal values are provided at a rate not less than a maximum switching frequency of the ON/OFF valve. This allows for detecting oscillations resulting from a high frequent switching of the valve (16).

A system for storing ammonia comprises a combined gas and flow detector (4) that is able to measure a flow of ammonia as well as to detect gases other than ammonia. The system further comprises thermally activatable ammonia stores (1), which can be activated to release ammonia upon heating. When the ammonia stores (1) are not heated, the system is below ambient pressure and any leak will cause foreign gas to enter the system. Therefore, the gas detector (4) is used to detect the presence of such foreign gas, which allows to detect leaks. The gas detector (4) is a thermal detector using a single heater (6) and two temperature sensors (7, 8) for detecting gas flow as well as foreign gas.
