A carbon fiber base which comprises a continuous-carbon-fiber layer constituted of continuous carbon fibers and, disposed on one or each surface of the continuous-carbon-fiber layer, a carbon short-fiber web in which short carbon fibers having an average fiber length of 2-12 mm have been dispersed in the shape of single fibers; a prepreg which comprises the carbon fiber base and a matrix resin infiltrated into the carbon fiber base; and a carbon-fiber-reinforced composite material which comprises the carbon fiber base and a matrix resin infiltrated into the carbon fiber base and cured.

Provided is a molding material comprising a composite of 1 to 50 wt% of a continuous reinforcing fiber bundle (A) and 0.1 to 20 wt% of a poly (phenylene ether ether ketone) oligomer (B); and 30 to 98.9 wt% of a thermoplastic resin (C) adhering to the composite, wherein the component (B) has a melting point of not higher than 270°C. Also provided are a method for molding the molding material, a method for producing the molding material, and a method for producing a fiber-reinforced composite material. A molded article having high heat resistance and dynamic properties can be easily produced without impairing the economic efficiency and productivity during the process for producing a molding material. In addition, a fiber-reinforced composite material can be produced with more ease and high productivity.

Provided is a fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin molding material including: a thermoplastic resin [A]; a resin impregnated reinforcing fiber filament [E] obtained by impregnating reinforcing fibers [B] with a resin [D] having melt viscosity at 200°C lower than melt viscosity of the thermoplastic resin [A]; and a reinforcing fiber modifier [C] that has melt viscosity at 200°C lower than the melt viscosity of the thermoplastic resin [A] and a difference in solubility parameter value from the thermoplastic resin [A] equal to or larger than 1.0, the molding material including 50 to 98.9 parts by weight of the thermoplastic resin [A]; 1 to 40 parts by weight of the reinforcing fiber [B]; 0.1 to 10 parts by weight of the reinforcing fiber modifier [C]; and 0.2 to 12 parts by weight of the resin [D] relative to total 100 parts by weight of the thermoplastic resin [A], the reinforcing fiber [B], and the reinforcing fiber modifier [C], wherein the resin impregnated reinforcing fiber filament [E] is coated with a resin composition including the thermoplastic resin [A] and the reinforcing fiber modifier [C]. Also provided is a thermoplastic resin molded article having excellent impact strength, whereby fiber break of reinforcing fibers is suppressed when impact is applied to the molded article.

Provided is a carbon fiber bundle having carbon fibers and a sizing agent, wherein the sizing agent comprises a water soluble polyurethane resin having an SP value of 11.2 to 13.3, and the sizing agent is deposited on the carbon fibers at a rate of 0.5 to 7% by mass. Also provided is a carbon fiber bundle having carbon fibers and a sizing agent, the sizing agent is composed of the component shown in (A) and the component shown in (B1) or (B2) below, and the sizing agent is deposited on the carbon fibers at a rate of 0.5 to 7% by mass: (A) 73 to 98% by mass of a polyoxyalkylene unit; (B1) 0.5 to 15% by mass of an aromatic ester unit, 1.5 to 10% by mass of an aromatic urethane unit; and (B2) 0.5 to 10% by mass of an aromatic ester unit, 1.5 to 11% by mass of an aliphatic urethane unit. Further provided is a carbon fiber bundle having good handleability during the production and processing of the fiber bundle, an excellent convergence property, and excellent dispersibility in an aqueous dispersion medium even at a high concentration.

A molding material comprising the following components (A) to (D) at the following ratios, in which the component (D) is bonded to a composite comprising the components (A) to (C) and the order in the weight average molecular weight is component (D) > component (B) > component (C) ; (A) 1 to 75 wt% of a reinforcing fiber bundle; (B) 0.01 to 10 wt% of a first propylene-based resin;(C) 0.01 to 10 wt% of a second propylene-based resin having carboxylate groups bound to the polymer chains thereof; and (D) 5 to 98.98 wt% of a third propylene-based resin (first aspect). A resin-adhered reinforcing fiber bundle, wherein a mixture comprising a first propylene-based resin (B) and a second propylene-based resin (C) is adhered to a reinforcing fiber bundle (A); the weight average molecular weight of the first propylene-based resin (B) is larger than the weight average molecular weight of the second propylene-based resin (C); the second propylene-based resin (C) is a propylene-based resin having carboxylate groups bound to the polymer chains thereof; the adhered amount of the mixture comprising the first propylene-based resin (B) and the second propylene-based resin (C) is in a range from 0.1 to 30 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the reinforcing fiber bundle (A) ; and the content of the second propylene-based resin (C) is 0.3 to 45 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of the first propylene-based resin (B) (second aspect).
