The present invention relates to nanoparticles, a preparation method thereof, a stone removal device, a magnetic target separation instrument and its application. The nanoparticles include a nanoparticle core made of magnetic materials, and a nanoparticle shell formed by attaching surface modifier monomers to the nanoparticle core with an initiator and/or a crosslinking agent. The prepared nanoparticles can wrap stones in ureter, and then small stones remaining in body can be removed quickly without damage from the body under the action of the magnetic target separation instrument. The stones can be drawn and moved without injuring ureteral wall, and meanwhile be disposed conveniently without easy shift.

It has been discovered that iron-platinum ferromagnetic particles can be dispersed in a polymer and coated into or onto, or directly linked to or embedded on to, medical devices and magnetized. The magnetized devices are used to attract, capture, and/or retain magnetically labeled cells on the surface of the device in vivo. The magnetic particles have an iron/platinum core. Annealing the Fe/Pt particle is very important for introducing a L10 interior crystalline phase. The Fe:Pt molar ratio for creation of the crystal phase is important and a molar range of 1.2-3.0 Fe to Pt (molar precursors, i.e. starting compounds) is desired for magnetization. The magnetic force as a whole can be measured with a “Super Conducting Quantum Interference Device”, which is a sensitive magnetometer. The overall magnetic force is in the range from 0.1 to 2.0 Tesla.

The repellant surfaces comprise a substrate and a lubricating layer immobilized over the substrate surface having a lubricating liquid having an affinity with the substrate. The substrate and the lubricating liquid are attracted to each other together by non-covalent attractive forces. The repellent surface further includes a binding group extending over the surface of the lubricating layer and the binding group has an affinity with a target moiety. The lubricating layer and the substrate form a slippery or repellent surface configured and arranged for contact with a material that is immiscible with the lubricating liquid and the immiscible material contains the target moiety.

The ceramic mass can be obtained by sintering a mixture comprising at least the constituents SiO 2 , CaO, P 2 O 5 , MgO, CaF 2 and TiO 2 , on their own or in combination with at least one alkali oxide, the alkali oxide being chosen from NaO 2 and K 2 O. The invention further relates to uses of the sintered material in the form of moldings for strengthening, cleaning, roughening or polishing surfaces of medical implants or as a final prosthesis.

A system for treating a vascular condition includes a stent including hydroxyapatite fibers interwoven to define a stent lumen. Another aspect of the invention is a method of manufacturing a stent by forming hydroxyapatite fibers and biodegradable polymeric fibers, and interweaving the fibers to form a stent wall. The hydroxyapatite fibers can be formed by a sol-gel process, followed by spinning of the gel to form the hydroxyapatite fibers.
