Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To warm up an internal combustion engine before its start by using electric power obtained from the sunlight and solar heat. SOLUTION: A vehicle 100 includes the engine 100, a power generation unit 200, a circuit 300, a water pump 400, a valve 500, a heater 600, a battery 700 and an ECU 800. In the engine 100, a water jacket (not shown in the figure) where cooling water flows is provided. The power generation unit 200 includes a solar battery panel 210 provided in a roof upper part of the vehicle 10 and generating electric power by converting light energy to electric energy and an outside flow passage 220 where cooling water flows. The circuit 300 includes circuits 310, 320 and a bypass flow passage 330. The water pump 400, valve 500 and heater 600 are operated by electric power from the battery 700. Electric power generated by the solar battery panel 210 is stored in the battery 700 via a harness 710. COPYRIGHT: (C)2009,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To smoothly change opening/closing timing of a valve after starting an internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: When a start request for an engine is made, if an oil temperature Toil is not high in S140, a power output device sets a spark start number of rotations Nstart of the engine to a first number of rotations N1 in S150. If the oil temperature Toil is high, since the viscosity of operation oil is low and the oil pressure is slow in increasing, the device sets the number Nstart of the engine to a second number of rotations N2 larger the first number of rotations N1 in S160. By setting torque commands Tm1* and Tm2* using the number Nstart set in such a manner to transmit them to motors MG1, MG2 and by motoring the engine, the device surely unlocks a lock pin of a variable valve timing mechanism from a locking hole even when the oil temperature Toil is high. Therefore, the device can smoothly change the valve timing of an air intake valve after starting the engine. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress degradation in emission immediately after the starting of an internal combustion engine having a cylinder fuel injection valve. SOLUTION: When an engine is started in a condition that a start water temperature Twst is less than a predetermined temperature Tref, a value with a vehicle demand power P* limited by regarding a power limit Pemax1 as an upper limit is set to an engine demand power Pe* (S140-S170) so that the fuel injection amount of the cylinder fuel injection valve is limited until a piston top surface temperature Test1 becomes a predetermined temperature T1 or more for sufficiently vaporizing and completely burning fuel ejected from the cylinder fuel injection valve toward a piston top surface. A torque command Tm2* is set (S200-S220) to output a required torque Tr* to a driving shaft within a range of battery input/output limit Win, Wout, and an engine and a motor are controlled. Thereby, degradation in emission is suppressed which is caused by incomplete combustion of fuel ejected from the cylinder fuel injection valve while corresponding to the required torque Tr*. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more properly and quickly start an internal combustion engine while preventing an error in opening a cylinder fuel injection valve at starting the internal combustion engine having the cylinder fuel injection valve for injecting fuel into a cylinder. SOLUTION: An opening/closing timing VVT is delayed and a throttle opening TH is throttled when starting cranking of the engine with small torque Tlow. After fuel pressure Pf to be supplied to the cylinder fuel injection valve gets to a determined value or greater which is greater than pressure such that the valve closing holding pressure of the cylinder fuel injection valve to cylinder compression pressure Pin, the cranking with normal cranking torque Tset and the delay of the opening/closing timing VVT are started, the throttle of the throttle opening TH is cancelled, and fuel injection from the cylinder fuel injection valve is started. Thus, the fuel pressure Pf quickly gets to pressure or greater such that the valve closing holding pressure is added to the cylinder compression pressure Pin and an error in opening the cylinder fuel injection valve is prevented. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To recover waste heat of an engine without causing a secondary failure of an exhaust heat recovery device due to a failure of a catalyst device. SOLUTION: ECU executes program including a step S100 executing a catalyst deterioration determination process (oxygen occlusion quantity change), a step S300 setting a catalyst deterioration flag when a three-way conversion catalytic converter fails 120 (YES in S200), a step S500 determining whether misfire of the engine 150 is detected or not, and a step S700 prohibiting recovery of exhaust heat from exhaust gas of the engine 150 when the catalyst is deteriorated (YES in S200) or catalyst deterioration flag is set after misfire detection (Yes IN S500 and YES in S600). PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve fuel economy of a hybrid automobile and to stabilize fuel economy. SOLUTION: This hybrid automobile travels by transmitting power form an engine and power from a motor MG2 to a driving shaft and is capable of storing power generated with a part of the power from the engine by the motor MG1 into a battery. Required power Pr* of a driving shaft is set based on an accelerator opening and battery charging power Pbi is set based on SOC. The sum of both of the power Pr* and the power Pbi is made as engine target power Pe* (S100 to S108). When the engine target power Pe* is less than a prescribed lower limit valve Plow, the engine target power Pe* is changed to the lower limit value Plow and the battery charging power Pbi is also changed according to the change (S112), to operate the engine and the motors MG1 and MG2. Since the lower limit value Plow is set so that efficiency for an output of the engine may be optimum efficiency, the engine can be prevented from being operated in a low output region having bad efficiency. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reasonably and suitably preheat an engine and its related parts. SOLUTION: A hybrid ECU determines that a driver has an intention of starting traveling when a starter switch is changed over from the off-state to the on-state (S110), the temperature of each item (cooling water in the engine, injector and lubricating oil) is input (S120), the necessity of preheat is determined depending on whether or not each item reaches a suitable temperature range (S130), when preheat is necessary, an engine start permitting flag is set to "0" to inhibit starting of the engine (S140), and subsequently, an instruction for preheating of the item required to be preheated is given to the engine ECU (S150) to end the program. On the other hand S130, when all items reach suitable temperature range, preheating is determined to be unnecessary, and the engine starting permitting flag F is set to "1" to permit starting of the engine (S160) to end the program. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cooling device for an internal combustion engine which prevents a sudden temperature fall of cooling water circulating in the internal combustion engine. SOLUTION: A warming-up control means 50 controls a pump 38 for a heat accumulation tank and a three-way selector valve 30 and warms up the engine by supplying the hot cooling water pooled in the heat accumulation tank 36 to the engine 10. When temperature of the cooling water returned from a heater core 44 to the engine 10 is below that of the cooling water discharged from the heat accumulation tank 36, the warming-up control means 50 controls the three-way selector valve 30 and adjusts a flow rate of the cooling water circulating through the heater core 44 and the engine 10 below a predetermined flow rate. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To surely start an engine when the engine is cranked by a motor according to the discharge of a battery. SOLUTION: The lower the temperature T of cooling medium for cooling the engine in the condition of the engine and the lower the remaining capacity SOC in the condition of the battery, the lower the target cranking speed N* of the engine is set, and the motor is driven by using a power from the battery at the target cranking speed N* to perform the cranking of the engine. Thus, since the power of the battery is assured so that the engine can be re-started after the engine fails to start, the engine is more surely started. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a starting characteristic changing means of an internal combustion engine for a vehicle having a piston working chamber for working a piston so as to reduce the intake compression ratio when a working fluid is introduced, and requiring the working fluid to be discharged from the piston working chamber when the intake compression ratio is increased to rapidly cope with the operation of increasing the intake compression ratio as required when starting the engine. SOLUTION: The working fluid in the piston working chamber is controlled to be discharged as the internal combustion engine is stopped. The working fluid may be discharged when or after the internal combustion engine is stopped.
