PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high performance catalyst capable of decomposing/removing hydrogen peroxide or of removing dissolved oxygen even if water is allowed to flow therethrough at such a high SV of higher than 2,000 h -1 and even if the height of a packed bed of the catalyst is made low. SOLUTION: The supported catalyst of platinum group metal includes a porous organic anion exchanger which is a continuous macroporous structure wherein the bubble-shaped macropores overlap one after another with the overlapping parts each constituting an opening of a mean diameter in a water-wet state of 30 to 300 μm, has a total pore volume of 0.5 to 5 ml/g and an anion exchanging capacity per volume in a water-wet state of 0.4 to 1.0 mg equivalent/ml, includes anion exchanging groups uniformly distributed therein, and includes nano particles of platinum group metal of a mean diameter of 1 to 100 nm supported thereby in an amount in a dry state of 0.004 to 20 wt.%, with the area of the skeleton thereof appearing on the cross section in the SEM image of a cut plane of the continuous macroporous structure (a dry structure) occupying 25 to 50% of the image area. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a catalyst capable of making hydrogen peroxide by directly reacting hydrogen with oxygen in the presence of the catalyst, to obtain a hydrogen peroxide solution which is noncorrosive, high in concentration, and has high selectivity. SOLUTION: A hydrogen peroxide-making method comprises the step of reacting hydrogen with oxygen to obtain a hydrogen peroxide solution in the presence of the catalyst which contains at least one noble metal or semi-noble metal supported on an inorganic material which is made to be functional by a solvent and an acidic group. PURPOSE: A solution of a complex of noble metal of group VIII containing a tertiary organophosphorus compound as a ligand is oxidized in a polar organic solvent in the presence of water and a base to produce the titled compound used as a hydrogeneration catalyst with industrial advantage. CONSTITUTION: An organic compound-containing solution of a complex of noble metal of group VIII containng a tertiary organophosphorus compound such as triphenyl phosphine as a ligand, e.g., a waste catalyst solution after hydroformylation of propylene with a rhodium-triphenylphosphine complex catalyst is brought in to contact with an oxidizing agent in the presence of free tertiary organophosphorus compound, a polar organic solvent such as ethanol, water and a basic substance such as sodium hydroxide to crystallize out the solid complex of noble metal of group VIII. PURPOSE: To prepare ethanol from methanol, CO and hydrogen, in high selectivity, by the heterogeneous reaction using cobalt, phosphate as a main catalyst, and if necessary, a platinum-group element as a cocatalyst. CONSTITUTION: Ethanol is prepared from methanol, CO and hydrogen, in high selectivity, by using a catalyst system comprising a main catalyst consisting of cobalt phosphate containing 0.1W500milli-atom of cobalt (as metal) per 1mol of methanol, and if necessary, a cocatalyst consisting of a platinum-group metal (pref. Ru, Rh, or Pd) containing 0.01W50milli-atom of the element (as metal) per 1mol of methanol, in a heterogeneous reaction system, and reacting under a pressure of 150W 450kg/cm 2 at 180W280°C. The combined use of the cocatalyst suppresses the by- production of oxygen-containing compounds other than ethanol. PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a novel compound containing plural complexes which enables simple and easy synthesis of a large amount of a cluster having a controlled size and a metal complex which can be used for the synthesis of this compound, and a method for preparing the compound containing plural complexes and the complex. SOLUTION: Provided is an amidine-carboxylic acid complex having an amidine ligand and a carboxylic acid ligand which are coordinated to one metal atom or plural metal atoms of the same element.
