    SOLUTION: There is provided the method of producing 2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)hexafluoropropan-2-ol by allowing hexafluoroacetone to react with phenol in the presence of hydrogen fluoride, wherein 1 to 5 moles of hexafluoroacetone and 1 to 200 moles of hydrogen fluoride relative to 1 mole of phenol are used at a reaction temperature of 0 to 50°C.
