Abstract: An article comprising a first component having a first electrically conductive surface and a second component having a second surface. An adhesive composition comprising a zwitterionic polymer is disposed between the first electrically conductive surface and second surface and joins the first component to the second component. The effort required to separate the first component from the second component, as measured by work of adhesion per surface area, is reduced by application of a DC electric potential across the adhesive composition.

Abstract: An article comprising a first component having a first electrically conductive surface and a second component having a second surface. An adhesive composition comprising a cured polymerizable ionic liquid is disposed between the first electrically conductive surface and second surface and joins the first component to the second component. The polymerizable ionic liquid comprises an acid functional monomer and the conjugate acid of an imidazole compound. The effort required to separate the first component from the second component, as measured by work of adhesion per surface area, is reduced by application of a DC electric potential across the adhesive composition.

The article includes an occlusive layer; a substrate overlaying the occlusive layer, wherein the substrate having two opposing major surfaces; a metal oxide layer overlaying one opposing major surface of the substrate, wherein the metal oxide layer comprises a metal oxide; and a metal layer overlaying the other opposing major surface of the substrate; wherein the substrate is between the metal oxide layer and the metal layer; and wherein electric potential of the metal oxide layer is at least 0.454V more than electric potential of the metal layer.

Abstract: Described herein is method for testing an ion exchange chromatography device. The method includes monitoring both a binding and a non-binding species and determining their breakthrough point to determine a net breakthrough value. The method can be used to determine the integrity of the chromatography device, ensure that the chromatography device possesses the expected adsorbent capacity, and/or determine viral clearance of the chromatography device.
