    摘要: A lubricating apparatus, for a friction engagement element that engages a rotatable member with a case includes a hub connected to the rotatable member, friction members disposed between the hub and the case, a hydraulic servo for engaging the friction members, and an oil passage for supplying lubricant from the case to the friction members. A discharge opening of the oil passage is formed at a position which is radially inward of the friction members and which is axially to a side of the friction members. The discharge opening is directed toward the friction members. A weir member for restricting escape of lubricant in the axial direction through a gap between the hub and the friction members is provided at the other axial side of the friction members. Therefore, the axial escape of lubricant exiting the friction members can be prevented by a non-contact leakage restriction that does not cause drag resistance. The radially outward stream of oil between the friction members is secured, and the friction members can be reliably cooled to remove heat generated by slip control of the friction engagement element.

    摘要: A torsional damper type flywheel device includes drive side and driven side flywheels, a first spring mechanism connecting the drive side and driven side flywheels, a second spring mechanism which may include an air cushion spring, and a viscous damping mechanism arranged in series with the second spring mechanism. The series combination of the second spring mechanism and the viscous damping mechanism is arranged parallel to the first spring mechanism and connects the drive side and driven side flywheels. This flywheel device continuously changes its vibrational bahavior between two characteristics due to the action of the viscous damping mechanism. Due to the vibrational behavior change, no notable resonance occurs when the rotational speed passes through the resonance speed of the flywheel device. A continuously sliding friction mechanism is not used.

Resilient members are secured to spring seats, which are engaged with both ends of a spring of the damper mechanism, at an inner-half portion of the spring seat closer to the axis of said flywheels than an axial line of the spring. Excess compression of the resilient members is prevented.

Alternatively, the specifications and/or tooth surface modifications is/are determined so as to increase an effective contact ratio (.epsilon..sub.n) which is an angular range (.theta..sub.n) divided by the angular pitch (.theta..sub.p), the angular range (.theta..sub.n) corresponding to a portion of a path of the tooth contact point in which an edge contact of the tooth pair does not take place at the tooth top or at the ends of the face width of the teeth. These arrangements permit efficient and easy designing of a gear having a reduced noise, without simulations or tests.
