    Abstract: A radial gap motor/generator has a thin annular array of magnets mounted for rotation to a stator in a radially spaced relation to at least one thin annular induction structure fixed to a stationary stator may be air or liquid cooled. Further, the motor has at least radial gap between a magnetic core and the array and may include multiple gaps and multiple annular induction structures to increase the overall power density of the system.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a module dual radial gap brushless, permanent magnet AC or DC (BLPMAC/BLPMDC) rotary electrical motor/generator suitable for direct drive wind or other fluid medium driven turbines. The motor/generator includes a circular rotor ring of individual rotor segments and a circular stator ring of individual stator segments. Each rotor segment includes a plurality of magnet modules disposed therein and arranged in alternating magnetic plurality. The stator includes a plurality of stator induction modules nested within the rotating rotor. Each stator induction module includes a coil electrically connected to a phase bus bar and a common bus bar. In a first embodiment of the stator induction modules, the motor/generator has a pre-established, fixed gap between the magnets and the coils. In a second embodiment of the stator induction modules, the generator has a gap controlled by a self-calibrating mechanism that compensates for variations in dimensional tolerance and concentricity between the rotor and the stator.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a bearing cup assembly for a universal joint comprising a cylindrically elongated bearing cup, the bearing cup having a cylindrical sidewall, a closed bottom wall, and an open top. The bearing cup is positioned over, and rotates freely on, a cylindrically elongated trunnion which is associated with the universal joint. The bearing cup assembly further comprises a lubricant-impregnated powder metal mass disposed within the bearing cup and positioned between the sidewall and closed bottom wall of the bearing cup and the trunnion. The assembly further comprises a circular seal having an open center and being disposed about the open top of the bearing cup.     Abstract: A spot welding electrode designed for welding coated metals such as galvanized steel and a method of welding coated metals using the spot welding electrode. The electrode includes a housing having a hollow cavity with an open end and a closed end. The cavity is surrounded by a cooling wall which has an outer surface and a parallel inner surface. The parallel surfaces provide a substantially improved and consistent cooling method for maintaining temperature at the electrode-workpiece interface below the melting point of the coating. The bulk of the heating during the weld cycle is focused at the interface of the workpiece.

    Abstract: A central differential power output delivery shaft for a rotary motor used to deliver the power to the drive wheels in a motor vehicle application. The power delivery shaft is a hollow two piece housing which internally houses two separate independent axle shafts, one protruding from each of its ends for the purpose of providing differentiated rotation to the drive wheels of a motor vehicle. The axle shafts rotate along with the central differential power output delivery shaft and are internally operationally connected to the left hand and right drive wheels of the motor vehicle. The axle shafts are also operationally connected to each other inside the central differential power output delivery shaft housing with a geared differentiating arrangement so as to allow them to rotate at different rates with respect to one another.

    Abstract: The present invention provides a spot resistance welding electrode cap for welding two or more work-pieces together, including a substantially cylindrical body having an interior surface, an exterior surface, and a tapered interior cavity for frictionally fitting over an electrode shank. The exterior surface of the body includes a plurality of longitudinally extending depressions or flutes formed therein which provide an increased external surface area to the electrode cap, thus increasing the ability to transfer additional amounts of heat. The electrode cap further includes a plurality of fins disposed on the interior surface of the body within the interior cavity. The free ends of the fins are chamfered in order to ease the transition of coolant flowing throughout the shank proximate the electrode cap.
