摘要: An annular support ring 32 is fitted onto the outer periphery of each trunnion 22. This support ring 32 and the roller 34 are unitized via a plurality of needle rollers 36 to constitute a roller assembly capable of relative rotations therebetween. In longitudinal section, each trunnion 22 has an outer periphery of straight shape, parallel to the axis of the trunnion 22. In cross section, the trunnion 22 has a generally ellipse shape with the major axis orthogonal to the axis of the joint. The inner periphery of each support ring 32 is arcuate and convex in section. This combines with the general elliptic cross sections of the trunnions 22 and the provision of predetermined clearances between the trunnions 22 and the support rings 32, to allow the support rings 32 to move along the axial directions of the trunnions 22 as well as make tilting movements with respect to the trunnions 22.

摘要: A constant velocity universal joint for use with a propeller shaft which reduces its weight and size as well as facilitates assembling a stub shaft, thereby reducing the number of parts used and improving rotational balance. The universal joint, comprising: an outer ring with a cup-shaped enlarged diameter portion having track grooves formed on an inner peripheral surface and with a hollow reduced diameter portion integrated with the enlarged diameter portion; an inner ring having track grooves formed on an outer peripheral surface; balls, interposed between the track grooves of the inner and outer rings, for transmitting torque; a cage, accommodated in an annular space between the inner and outer rings, for holding the balls. The universal joint makes possible to form a unit provided with a stub shaft, having a shaft portion inserted from an open end portion of the enlarged diameter portion of the outer ring to mate with the inner ring to enable torque transmission and having an enlarged diameter portion on an end portion extending from the shaft portion, and provided with a boot, attached to the open end portion of the enlarged diameter portion of the outer ring and the shaft portion of the stub shaft, for sealing the joint.

摘要: A power transmission shaft using the constant velocity joint is manufactured by applying induction hardening to graphite steel thereby to harden the surface layer and form a 2-phase structure of ferrite and martensite in the core thereof. The graphite steel contains 0.35 to 0.70% of C, 0.4 to 2.0% of Si, 0.3 to 1.5% of Mn, 0.025% or less S, 0.02% or less P, 0.01 to 0.1% of Al, 0.001 to 0.004% of B and 0.002 to 0.008% of N by weight as the basic components, with the rest comprising Fe and inevitable impurities.

摘要: A shock sub for a well drilling string comprises a tubular housing adapted to be connected to one part of a drill string and a mandrel extending longitudinally into the housing and having an end portion adapted for connection to another part of the drill string. The mandrel and housing are shaped to define a non-circular annular cavity there between when assembled together. A compressible elastic metallic spring means is positioned in and substantially fills the non-circular annular cavity and is compressible longitudinally, radially and circumferentially to absorb longitudinal, radial and torsional vibration and impact loads and to transmit rotary movement between said housing and mandrel for imparting rotation from one part of the drill string to the other part connected by the drill sub. The spring means is preferably a knitted wire fabric or rope compressed into a compact mass capable of spring deflection in longitudinal, radial and circumferential directions relative to said shock sub assembly.

摘要: A flexible rotary shaft coupling for marine use in a propeller shaft that isolates the vibration caused by axial forces on the propeller passing through an uneven wake. Torque is carried by a solid pin and link arrangement which produces negligible axial resistance. The coupling housing is substantially cup-shaped on one side and has a plunger on the other side and contains a very dense liquid or a very dense soft rubber mass formed to a hollow cylindrical shape within the coupling due to centrifugal force. This mass resists the fluctuating forces by the variation of the inside diameter of the hollow cylinder formed by centrifugal forces during rotation. Variation of stiffness of the cylindrical column is achieved by varying the distance between the coupling faces or sides.
