Abstract: In an embodiment, a remote antenna unit includes a transmitter, a receiver, an antenna, a first interference circuit, and a second interference circuit. The transmitter is configured to generate a transmit signal, and the receiver configured to process a receive signal. The antenna is coupled to the transmitter and the receiver and is configured to radiate a downlink signal in response to the transmit signal and generate the receive signal in response to an uplink signal. The first interference circuit is coupled to the transmitter and the receiver and is configured to receive an analog signal from the transmitter. The second interference circuit coupled to the transmitter and the receiver. The first interference circuit and the second interference circuit are configured to reduce, in the receive signal, interference caused by the transmit signal and/or at least one downlink signal radiated by an antenna.

Abstract: An optical medium, such as fiber, is tapped to provide an antenna port wherever radio service coverage is desired. Each antenna port is a bi-directional remote unit that receives a digital optical signal from a host unit and transforms the signal to a radio frequency signal for transmission by the remote unit. The remote unit receives radio frequency signals that are converted to digital signals and summed with signals from other remote units and converted to an optical signal for transmission to the host unit.

Abstract: A network interface for use within a distributed antenna system, the network interface including circuitry configured to: receive a downlink digital communication signal from an external device external to the distributed antenna system, wherein a reference clock is embedded in the downlink digital communication signal; generate a master reference clock for the distributed antenna system using the reference clock embedded in the downlink digital communication signal; convert the downlink digital communication signal into a downlink signal; communicate the downlink signal toward a remote antenna unit within the distributed antenna system; and wherein the distributed antenna system is configured to distribute the master reference clock to various components of the distributed antenna system to keep the various components of the distributed antenna system locked to a single clock, wherein the various components of the distributed antenna system include the remote antenna unit.

Abstract: Systems and method for resampling are provided. A method of resampling includes receiving a first sampled signal that is sampled at a first sample rate, where the first sample rate is a submultiple of a system clock rate for a Farrow filter. The method further includes resampling the first sampled signal, using the Farrow filter having a plurality of finite impulse response (FIR) filters and an arbitrary position interpolator, at a second sample rate to generate a second sampled signal. The interpolation factor for each sample of the second sampled signal is retrieved from at least one lookup table stored in memory and the first sample rate and the second sample rate are fixed and locked to a common frequency reference. The method further includes outputting the second sampled signal at the second sample rate.

Abstract: One embodiment is directed to a system for use with a coverage area in which one or more wireless units wirelessly transmit using a wireless radio frequency spectrum. The system comprises a first unit, and a plurality of second units communicatively coupled to the first unit using at least one communication medium. Each of the plurality of second units generates respective digital RF samples indicative of a respective analog wireless signal received at that second unit. Each of the plurality of second units communicates the respective digital RF samples generated by that second unit to the first unit using the at least one communication medium. The first unit digitally sums corresponding digital RF samples received from the plurality of second units to produce summed digital RF samples. The system is configured so that an input used for base station processing is derived from the resulting summed digital RF samples.

Abstract: A serial link interface unit includes serialized data stream interfaces configured to receive a serialized data stream having a data rate and set of timeslots; an aggregate serialized data stream interface configured to communicate an aggregate serialized data stream having aggregate data rate and plurality of aggregate timeslot sets each coming sequentially in time, wherein a second aggregate timeslot set comes after a first aggregate timeslot set; and wherein the serial link interface unit interleaves data from the different serialized data streams received at the plurality of first interfaces by mapping data from a first timeslot from each different serialized data stream to the first aggregate timeslot set in the aggregate serialized data stream and mapping data from a second timeslot from each different serialized data stream to the second aggregate timeslot set in the aggregate serialized data stream.

Abstract: A signal interface unit for a distributed antenna system includes a channelized radio carrier interface configured to communicate an uplink channelized radio carrier for a radio frequency carrier to a channelized radio carrier base station interface; an antenna side interface configured to receive an uplink digitized radio frequency signal from the distributed antenna system communicatively coupled to the antenna side interface, wherein the uplink digitized radio frequency signal includes baseband data having bits; and a signal conversion module communicatively coupled between the channelized radio carrier interface and the antenna side interface and configured to convert between the uplink digitized radio frequency signal and the uplink channelized radio carrier at least in part by performing an adjustment of the bits included in the baseband data for the uplink digitized radio frequency signal received from the distributed antenna system to comply with requirements of the channelized radio carrier base station interface.
