A personal care composition is provided, comprising (A) an effective amount of a polyalkylsiloxane copolymer having a melting point of from about -40.degree. to about +40.degree. C., and being selected from various specific polyalkylsiloxane copolymer fluids or polyalkylsiloxane copolymer resins; and (B) a cosmetically acceptable carrier medium, wherein the polyalkylsiloxane copolymer contains mixtures of linear lower alkyl side chains and linear higher alkyl side chains or mixtures of linear alkyl side chains and branched alkyl side chains. The polyalkylsiloxane copolymers used in the composition are fluids or soft waxes at body temperature and have improved application and payout and better substantivity and hair conditioning properties.

A method is provided for preparing an amino-functional polyorganosiloxane microemulsion having an average particle size of from about 0.015 to about 0.05 microns by (A) forming an oil mixture by blending (1) an amino-functional polyorganosiloxane and (2) at least one surfactant, wherein at least one of the surfactants is insoluble in the amino-functional polyorganosiloxane; (B) dropwise adding an initial portion of water to the oil and surfactant mixture prepared in step (A), agitating the mixture formed in step (B) for a period of time sufficient to form a homogeneous mixture; (C) adding water to the homogeneous mixture formed in (B); and (D) adding a lower aliphatic carboxylic acid having from 1 to about 4 carbon atoms or a mineral acid selected from HCl, H.sub.2 SO.sub.4, HNO.sub.3, HBr, or Hl to the mixture formed in (C) in an amount sufficient to provide the mixture with a pH of from about 4 to about 7, the acid reacting with the amino-functional polyorganosiloxane (A)(1) to form a water-soluble salt. Also provided herein are the amino-functional polyorganosiloxane microemulsion formed by the method of the invention and hair care compositions containing the amino-functional polyorganosiloxane microemulsion.

A composition suitable for forming a pressure sensitive adhesive is provided comprising a homogeneous mixture of two intermediate pressure sensitive adhesive compositions. The pressure sensitive adhesives formed by curing this composition have improved peel strength and adhesion properties.

Room temperature vulcanizing elastomers are provided which comprise 100 parts of an .alpha.,.omega.-bis(hydroxy)dimethylpolysiloxane polymer, 2 to 20 parts of methyl triacetoxysilane and an amount of a hardening accelerator comprising a water-in-oil emulsion of water in a liquid organosilicon polymer stabilized with an organosilicon surfactant such that the water comprises at least 0.01% by weight of the total mixture.
