Abstract:
Embodiments of emission reduction system including various embodiments of an emission filters for a power plant including a gas turbine are disclosed. The system includes: an emission filter; and a retraction system operably coupled to an exhaust passage of the gas turbine. The exhaust passage defines an exhaust path of exhaust from the gas turbine. The retraction system selectively moves the emission filter between a first location within the exhaust path and a second location out of the exhaust path. In a combined cycle power plant, the first location is upstream of a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG). The systems and filters described allow for temporary positioning of emission filter(s) just downstream of a gas turbine exhaust outlet, or upstream of an HRSG, where provided, for emission reduction at low loads or startup conditions, and removal of the emission filter(s) once operations move to higher loads.
Abstract:
A method for injecting a reductant into an exhaust gas stream of a combustion turbine engine for selective catalytic reduction. The method may include the steps of: directing the exhaust gas stream through an exhaust duct; receiving the directed exhaust gas for treatment by a catalyst positioned within the exhaust duct; providing a reductant in a liquid state; pressurizing and heating the reductant in a manner that maintains the reductant in the liquid state; and injecting the heated, pressurized reductant into the exhaust gas stream such that the reductant flash vaporizes upon injection due to a pressure differential.
Abstract:
A method of operating a process facility and a power plant operating system are provided. The power plant operating system includes a control system used by a plurality of operators and a computer device coupled to the control system. The computer device includes a processor and a memory coupled to the processor. The memory includes processor-executable instructions that, when executed by the processor, cause the computer device to perform the steps of collecting data pertaining to the operation of the power plant by each of the plurality of operators, determining an operating efficiency of each of the plurality of operators in operating the power plant, and transmitting one or more advisory messages to at least one of the plurality of operators recommending a manual intervention by the operator to operate the power plant based on the collected data and the determination of the efficiency of each of the operators.

Abstract:
A gas turbine system includes an exhaust gas processing system that includes an exhaust stack having a first inlet and a first outlet. The first inlet is fluidly coupled to a second outlet of a cooler configured to direct the exhaust gas to the exhaust gas processing system via a first conduit extending between the exhaust stack and the cooler. The first conduit includes a first end configured to be directly coupled to the second outlet of the cooler and a second end configured to be directly coupled to the first inlet of the exhaust stack. The exhaust gas processing system also includes a carbon capture system disposed within the exhaust stack and configured to receive a carbon dioxide (CO2) lean solvent, to remove CO2 from the exhaust gas, to generate a CO2-rich solvent comprising the CO2 removed from the exhaust gas, and to generate a treated exhaust gas.

Abstract:
A system includes a turbine system that contains a heat recovery steam generator (HRSG) having a flow path that receives an exhaust gas, and having a fluid path that receives a fluid. The fluid path is adjacent to the flow path such that the fluid is heated by the exhaust gas. The HRSG includes an electrical heater that provides heat to the fluid path during a start-up mode of the HRSG, during a shutdown mode of the HRSG, or both.
