A gas turbine engine includes a fan shaft diving a fan having fan blades. A gear system includes a sun gear surrounded by a plurality of intermediate gears. A carrier at least partially supports the plurality of intermediate gears. A ring gear surrounds the plurality of intermediate gears. The sun gear is driven by a turbine. At least one fan shaft support bearing is located forward of the gear system. A coupling fixes the ring gear from rotation relative to an engine static structure. A lubrication system lubricates components across a rotation gap. The lubrication system includes a lubricant input. A stationary first bearing receives lubricant from the lubricant input and has a first race in which lubricant flows. A second bearing rotates within the first bearing. The second bearing has a first opening in registration with the first race such that lubricant may flow from the first race through the first opening into a first conduit.

A dosing and mixing arrangement including an exhaust conduit defining a central axis; a mixing conduit positioned within the exhaust conduit; a dispersing arrangement (e.g., a mesh) disposed at the upstream end of the mixing conduit; an injector coupled to the exhaust conduit and configured to direct reactants into the exhaust conduit towards the mesh; and an annular bypass defined between the mixing conduit and the exhaust conduit for allowing exhaust to bypass the upstream end of the mixing conduit and to enter the mixing conduit downstream of the mesh.
Abstract:
A dual mixer for mixing a reducing agent with exhaust gas in a mixing section of a selective catalytic reduction (SCR) aftertreatment system is disclosed. The dual mixer may comprise a first mixer including a grid and a plurality of trapezoidal fins projecting from the grid in a direction of flow of the exhaust gas. The dual mixer may further comprise a swirl mixer positioned downstream of the first mixer and separated therefrom by a distance. The swirl mixer may include a base and three arrays of swirl fins projecting from the base in the direction of flow of the exhaust gas. The swirl fins in each of the arrays may be oriented in a common direction that is rotated by about 60° from the common direction of the swirl fins in an adjacent array.

A spray device 40 sprays a liquid oxidation catalyst 41 into an interior of an upstream small-diameter pipe 32 which is disposed upstream of an oxidation catalyst 25, so that the liquid oxidation catalyst 41 is supplied to particulate matters which have accumulated on an upstream end face 31 of the oxidation catalyst 25 and a diametrically expanded pipe 33 which is disposed upstream of the upstream end face 31 to thereby oxidize and remove the accumulated particulate matters by a catalytic action of the supplied liquid oxidation catalyst 41, whereby it becomes possible to remove the particulate matters which have accumulated on the upper end face 31 of the oxidation catalyst 25 which is disposed in an exhaust passageway and a portion of the exhaust passageway which is situated upstream of the upstream end face 31.

An exhaust gas control system includes an upstream purification device disposed in an exhaust passage of the internal combustion engine, a downstream purification device disposed in a portion of the exhaust passage downstream from the upstream purification device, a fuel addition valve disposed in a portion of the exhaust passage upstream from the upstream purification device, and a urea addition valve disposed in a portion of the exhaust passage between the upstream purification device and the downstream purification device, and a cooling device. The cooling device is configured such that refrigerant cools the fuel addition valve first and then cools the urea addition valve subsequent to the fuel addition valve.
Abstract:
Systems and methods of continuous operation of a urea-SCR system at low temperatures (200-350° C.) in the presence of high SOx containing flue gas are described. The methods comprise introducing a solution of urea and an NO2 forming compound, preferably an alkaline earth metal nitrate, into an exhaust stream before the exhaust stream contacts an SCR catalyst.

An aftertreatment assembly is disclosed. The aftertreatment assembly includes a housing including an inlet and an outlet. A chamber is disposed downstream of the inlet, and is axially to the inlet. At least one bank of catalyst module is disposed downstream of the chamber, and is extending laterally from the chamber. A plenum is disposed over the chamber, and is extending laterally from the at least one bank of catalyst module. At least one first sealing member is disposed between the at least one bank of catalyst module and the chamber and the plenum. The at least one first sealing member having a first portion and a second portion between the plenum and the chamber.
