Abstract: A transparent pane having an electrically heatable coating and at least one coating-free zone that can be used, for example, as a communication window, is disclosed. The electrically heatable coating is connected to two collecting electrodes, such that a supply voltage applied to the electrodes generates a heating current that flows via a heating field formed between the collecting electrodes, the heating field containing the coating-free zone whose zone-edge is formed, at least in sections, by the heatable coating. Other implementation details include subdivision of one of the two collecting electrodes into separated subregions, each connected, via an electrical supply line, to an additional electrode. In one case, the electrical supply line runs, at least in sections, in the coating-free zone, in a coating-free edge strip, in a subregion of the coating outside the heating field, and/or in the zone-edge. Methods for producing the transparent pane are also disclosed.

Abstract: A vehicle pane, includes successively a) an outer glass pane, b) at least one laminated layer, c) a PDLC layer, including a polymer matrix, in which liquid crystal droplets are embedded, and in each case an electrically conductive layer on both sides of the polymer matrix, d) at least one laminated layer, and e) an inner glass pane. The TL(inside) is in the range from 5 to 46% and the TL(outside) is in the range from 20 to 73% and the TL(outside) is greater than or equal to TL(inside), wherein the TL(inside) is the light transmittance of an inner stack that is formed by the inner glass pane and the layers between the PDLC layer and the inner glass pane, and TL(outside) is the light transmittance of an outer stack that is formed by the outer glass pane and the layers between the PDLC layer and the outer glass pane.

The laminated glass has a design element with good contrast and good visibility and is suitable in particular as a vehicle window.

Abstract: Methods and devices for producing a composite pane having a functional coating are presented. The functional coating is applied to part of a surface of a base pane, and a first pane is cut out from the base pane while introducing a frame-shaped peripheral coating-free region into the functional coating having an inner region that is not adjacent a side edge of the first pane. The surface of the first pane with the functional coating is then bonded via a thermoplastic intermediate layer to a surface of a second pane.
