Abstract:
A method is provided for sealing discontinuities in vehicle bodywork, using an at least two-layer adhesive product which comprises at least one thermally activatable adhesive layer and a film layer of a polymeric material, where first the adhesive product is positioned with the adhesive layer onto the discontinuity for sealing, the adhesive layer sealingly wets the discontinuity, optionally after temperature increase, at elevated temperature the thermal activation of the adhesive ensues, characterized in that the adhesive layer used comprises a layer of a thermally activatable adhesive, specifically a layer based on a vulcanizable adhesive, and the thermal activation takes place with vulcanization of the adhesive.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a primer, comprising a mixture dissolved or dispersed in one or more solvents, the mixture composed of a copolymer obtained through copolymerization, preferably free-radical copolymerization, of vinylcaprolactam and/or vinylpyrrolidone, and one or more of the following monomers: a) an acrylic acid ester of a linear primary alcohol containing 2 to 10 carbon atoms in the alkyl group of the alcohol, b) an acrylic acid ester of a branched, non-cyclic alcohol having 4 to 12 carbon atoms in the alkyl group of the alcohol, c) acrylic acid, one or more organofunctional silanes. Such primer provides reliable and excellent adhesion between pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes and hydrophilic surfaces, in particular glass. The adhesion-promoting effect is retained even when the primer additionally contains functional fillers.
Abstract:
A thermally vulcanizable pressure-sensitive adhesive comprising a chemically precrosslinked, pressure-sensitively adhesive polybutadiene-polyurethane and ground sulfur, which during the heating phase remains pressure-sensitively adhesive, does not liquefy and hence in this phase, in which the vulcanization has not yet started and the curing has not yet commenced, has shear strength at least under load to moderate low, is able to transmit forces and hence to perform holding, a process for producing it, an adhesive tape comprising this pressure-sensitive adhesive, and a process for producing the adhesive tape.
Abstract:
Method of adhesively bonding two surfaces by means of a reactive adhesive film system comprising at least two adhesive films (F1 and F2), each comprising at least one reactive component (R1 and R2), adhesive bonding being effected by a reaction which requires the presence of both reactive components (R1 and R2), wherein, prior to adhesive bonding, a separating layer (T) which is impermeable to the reactive components is provided between the adhesive films which are to be brought into contact with one another for the reaction, and the separating layer (T) is removed at least in part by means of a laser in order to effect bonding, so that the adhesive films (F1 and F2) come into direct contact with one another and the reaction begins in the presence of both reactive components (R1 and R2), and reactive adhesive film system for use in this method.
Abstract:
An adhesive, more particularly a thermally curable, meltable, preferably pressure-sensitive adhesive, which is curable thermally from a temperature of 110° C., is storage-stable for approximately one month at 60° C. and longer than one year at 23° C., and an adhesive tape produced therefrom, comprising an epoxide-functionalized acrylonitrile/butadiene copolymer having on average more than 1.5 epoxide groups per molecule, and the ground reaction product of phthalic anhydride and diethylenetriamine, for use in the automotive industry both in bodyshell construction on oiled metal sheets and in the coating line on cathodically electrocoated or otherwise-coated metal sheets, for bonding and/or sealing, for example for hem fold bonding, for hem fold sealing, for seam sealing, for underseal bonding, for hole stopping, and much more.
Abstract:
Thermally vulcanisable, meltable adhesives and processes have a meltable polybutadiene-polyurethane, ground sulphur and optionally at least one vulcanisation accelerator, at least one filling material, at least one epoxide resin, at least one tackifier resin, bitumen, at least one softener and further auxiliary and additive materials, wherein said adhesives and processes can be thermally vulcanised within a temperature range of 130° C. to 230° C., such that same, as well as an adhesive strip produced from same, can be used for adhesion and/or sealing in the automotive industry, as well as in structural work on oiled sheet metal, and in the painting line on e-coated or otherwise painted sheet metal, for example, for crimp fold adhesion, for crimp fold sealing, for seam sealing, for lining adhesion, for hole closure and much more.
