Abstract: A de-hydrogenation catalyst and its use in dehydrogenation of hydrocarbons. The catalyst has low cracking activity and comprises gallium or gallium and platinum on an essentially non-acidic and amorphous alumina-phosphate or silica-alumina-phosphate support with an empirical chemical composition of [Al2O3][SiO2]Y[P2O5]Z, wherein Y is between 0 and 0.2 and Z is between 0.01 and 1.1, with a BET surface area above 50 m2/g, as measured by N2 adsorption experiment.

Abstract: The process converts ethylene in a dilute ethylene (dry gas) stream that may be derived from an FCC product to propylene. The process includes an oligomerization step to convert ethylene in the dilute ethylene stream to heavier olefins, and a second reaction step to convert the heavier olefins to propylene. The oligomerization catalyst may be an amorphous silica-alumina base with a Group VIII and/or VIB metal. The catalyst is resistant to feed impurities such as hydrogen sulfide, carbon oxides, hydrogen and ammonia. At least 50 wt-% of the ethylene in the dilute ethylene stream can be converted to C4+ olefins and recycled to the FCC for cracking to propylene.

Abstract: An improved MFI zeolite having low aluminum occupation at intersection sites characterized by an ortho-xylene to para-xylene uptake ratio of 0.1 to about 0.55. Processes for converting hydrocarbon or oxygenate to a product comprising light olefins and/or aromatics using the improved MFI zeolite as catalyst are also disclosed. Para-xylene in the product may be greater than about 24% of the xylenes.

Abstract: A process is provided for dehydrogenating a paraffinic hydrocarbon comprising sending the paraffinic hydrocarbon to a fluidized bed reactor to be contacted at dehydrogenation reaction conditions with a catalyst composition comprising less than about 0.0999 wt % platinum and about 0.05-2.5 wt % Group I or Group II elements or a mixture thereof. The catalytic composition is prepared without addition of tin, gallium, indium, germanium or lead.

Abstract: Processes and apparatuses for activating a dehydrogenation catalyst that include gallium on a support. An additive particle comprising platinum is mixed with the catalyst particles, which may be fresh or deactivated catalyst. The mixture is exposed, in an oxygen containing environment, to a temperature between 650° C. and 1,000° C. The additive particles may be fluidized with the catalyst particles and may active the catalyst in a regenerator.

Abstract: A process for converting naphtha to predominantly ethane comprising contacting a naphtha stream with a zeolitic catalyst comprising a noble metal and hydrogen to produce a light paraffin stream comprising ethane and propane; wherein the catalyst comprises at least about 0.005 wt % noble metal at a ratio of hydrogen to hydrocarbon of less than about 5. In a predominantly propane mode, the catalyst comprises about 0.005 wt % noble metal and operates at a reaction temperature of no more than about 450° C. The process can be switched between modes depending on the desires of the operator.
