    摘要: A glass substrate for a magnetic disk of the present invention is one in which a laser beam is irradiated on a main surface thereby forming a large number of protrusions thereon to form texture thereon, each of said protrusions being formed by a protruded portion having a convex shape, said glass having a composition in which 0.2 to 3 wt % of an oxide of a transition metal is contained and an absorption coefficient with respect to a wavelength of a light at 266 nm being within a range of 0.03 to 2 .mu.m.sup.-1, and by setting the absorption coefficient of the glass with respect to a wavelength of a light at 266 nm within a range of 0.03 to 2 .mu.m.sup.-1 and irradiating a laser beam having a wavelength in a range of ultraviolet rays selectively on the main surface of a glass substrate at predetermined intervals, texture comprising a large number of protrusions formed by protruded portions each having a small diameter and a convex shape is formed.

    摘要: A magnetic recording medium includes a substrate, a data region and a CSS region on a surface of the substrate. Information is recorded in the data region, and a magnetic head is held stationary in the CSS region. A thin film texture is fabricated in the data region by sputtering, and a laser texture is fabricated in the CSS region by laser irradiation. The laser texture includes a plurality of first projections. The thin film texture includes a plurality of second projections. The second projections are lower in height than the first projections.

    摘要: A flat type fluorescent lamp, obtaining an improvement in efficiency of brightness and being adjustable in an emitted light amount thereof, while maintaining a uniform light emission across the surface thereof, and illuminating with no use of mercury therein, comprising a sealed container being defined between a front glass substrate and a rear glass substrate which are hermetically bonded to each other, so as to enclose a rare gas as discharge gas therein, edge electrodes, having width from 2.5 mm to 10 mm and being provided at both end portions on one surface of the sealed container, and other edge electrodes, having width from 5 mm to 20 mm and being provided at both end portions on the other surface thereof, wherein the edge electrodes on the same side surfaces are connected to each other, a first inverter is connected between the one edge electrode P3 and a central electrode P6 which is provided in a central portion of the one surface, and a second inverter is connected between the other edge electrode P4 and the central electrode P6, wherein the first inverter and the second inverter provide rectangular waveform outputs, being same in frequency but having phases different to each other, thereby illuminating the lamp.
