A method for obtaining a composite color picture out of a plurality of original pictures and a camera employing the method are disclosed, wherein a plurality of original color picture are selectively exposed on a sheet of film one by one in a sequential manner with appropriate color compensation, magnification or reduction in size, and proper masking conducted upon each exposure. Both photographic film on which to duplicate composite picture and the original pictures are displaced across and on the optical center line of a camera in such a manner that, on the composite photographic picture thus obtained, the original pictures are laid out according to a plan.

The supporting bed is formed of a first supporting bed and a second supporting bed placed on the first supporting bed. A difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the second supporting bed and the substrate is smaller than a difference in thermal expansion coefficient between the first supporting bed and the substrate, and the substrate is placed on the second supporting bed such that the substrate is positioned entirely within the perimeter of the second supporting bed during the baking and heating. This structure allows reduction of scratches on a surface of the substrate.

Therefore, yellowing and dielectric breakdown caused by Ag turning to colloid can be restricted.

A display electrode pair and a dielectric layer are formed on the first substrate, and a plurality of discharge cells are formed between the first and second substrates along the display electrode pair. In this construction, two or more depressions are provided in the dielectric layer in an area corresponding to each discharge cell. This improves luminous intensity and illumination efficiency. Also, to form the dielectric layer on the first substrate, first a transfer film is made by providing a dielectric precursor layer on a support film, then depressions are formed in the dielectric precursor layer of the transfer film, and lastly the dielectric precursor layer of the transfer film is transferred onto the first substrate. This decreases the number of manufacturing steps and increases the yield, thereby reducing manufacturing costs.

A rear substrate includes phosphor layers to emit light by discharge. The display electrodes are composed of transparent electrodes, and bus electrodes. The bus electrodes are composed of a plurality of electrode layers and at least one of the electrodes is composed of a black layer having a product of the resistivity and layer thickness of not larger than 2 Ωcm2. A light-shield is composed of a black layer with the resistivity of not smaller than 1×106 Ωcm.
