    摘要: A sole structure for an article of footwear comprises a first sole plate that includes a forefoot region, a foot-receiving surface, and a lower surface opposite the foot-receiving surface. The first sole plate has a plurality of slots including a first slot, and a second slot rearward of the first slot. The plurality of slots is disposed in the forefoot region and extends generally transversely and entirely through the first sole plate from the foot-receiving surface to the lower surface. The sole structure includes at least one rib, referred to as a first rib, disposed between the first slot and the second slot. The sole structure also includes a second sole plate secured to the lower surface of the first sole plate both forward of the plurality of slots and rearward of the plurality of slots. The second sole plate is detached from the first rib.

    摘要: Aspects hereof relate to a holding fixture for holding portions of a shoe during painting. The fixture has a lower jig and an upper jig. The lower jig has an outer wall from which a contacting surface extends. The contacting surface is sized to apply a compressive force to the midsole along a desired paint line, and prevents paint from moving onto the midsole below the contacting surface. The top jig has a lower surface configured to be placed in contact with the top surface of the midsole when the midsole is held in the lower jig and is shaped to apply a downward and outward force on the midsole at an edge defined by the top surface of the midsole and the outer perimeter surface of the midsole, to thereby prevent paint from moving onto the top surface of the shoe portion.

    摘要: The sole section of a shoe includes a midsole and an outsole, with the midsole being made from a translucent material. An illumination system is located inside the translucent midsole, causing the translucent midsole to be internally illuminated when the illumination system is active. Due to the translucent nature of the midsole light from the illumination system reflects internally throughout the midsole, increasing illumination. The light will also illuminate adjacent translucent components, such as the outsole if it is also made from a translucent material. Light from the illumination system can be blocked, such as by an opaque outsole or colored mold injection, and used to form an illuminated design or logo. By blacking out or covering sections of the translucent midsole, shapes and letters of visible light can be created in the negative space of the obstruction sections. This allows illuminated designs to easily be incorporated into footwear.
