摘要: Techniques for improved efficiency of sintering in additive fabrication are described. According to some aspects, mechanisms for depositing and leveling source material are combined with a mechanism for heating the material. In some embodiments, one or more heating elements may be arranged to lead and/or follow a material deposition mechanism such that heat may be applied to the build region in concert with deposition of material. As a result of this technique, the heating and depositing steps may be performed closer together in time and/or heat may be applied more directly to the material than in conventional systems. As a result, greater control over material temperature may be achieved, thereby avoiding excess temperature exposure and subsequent undesirable changes to the material.

摘要: The present invention relates to powder-layer three-dimensional printers (2) having a discrete supply hopper (340) and a recoater (20). The discrete supply hopper (340) is configured to transfer a build powder to the recoater (20) in a manner that enhances the uniformity of build powder layers that are dispensed from the recoater (20). In some embodiments, at least one of the discrete supply hopper and the powder hopper of the recoater is adapted to selectively contact the other, seal against the other, and/or have one partially inserted inside the other so as to diminish or prevent powder pluming during the transfer of build powder from the discrete supply hopper to the recoater.

The main opening is equipped with a passive half-valve (20) allowing this main opening (14) to be closed in such a way as to be sealed in an airtight and humidity-proof manner. The container comprises at least two inerting tappings.

A second portion of a build material may be irradiated along a second irradiation path (813), wherein the second scan region (803) is offset with respect to the first scan region (801) thereby defining an offset region (802). The offset region (802) is at least partially solidified by the first irradiation path (811) and the second irradiation path (813) and a reference line (819) intersects the first irradiation path (811) and the second irradiation path (813) within the offset region (802), wherein the reference line (819) is substantially parallel to a side (810) of the first scan region (801).

摘要: Apparatuses and methods for in situ thermal treatment for PBF systems are provided. An apparatus for a PBF-based 3-D printer can include a heating element for heating a gas, wherein the heated gas is delivered via at least one port of the 3-D printer to conduct heat treatment on a build piece during printing. A method for thermal treatment in a PBF-based 3-D printer can include heating a gas and delivering it via at least one port of the 3-D printer arranged proximate a build piece to conduct heat treatment during printing. An apparatus for a PBF-based 3-D printer can include a temperature-regulating element for changing a temperature of a gas, at least one channel for delivering the gas to a plurality of ports, and a controller for determining gas temperatures and durations of application of the gas via different ones of the plurality of the ports.
