Abstract:
A wheel assembly for an agricultural implement and method of forming the agricultural wheel assembly includes a tire body, an annular ring, and a hub. The tire body has an inner wall and an outer wall collectively defining an annular pocket therebetween. The inner wall defines a central, axial hole through the tire body and has a circumferential slot extending therethrough. The annular ring is positioned within the circumferential slot and secured to the tire body such that the annular ring projects radially inward through the circumferential slot to the axial hole. As such, the annular ring is configured to operatively engage the hub such that the tire body mounts to the hub.
Abstract:
A vehicle wheel comprises a wheel rim having first and second sidewalls defining a rim trough, a tire having a tire bead positioned in the rim trough in engagement with the first sidewall, and a bead lock positioned in the rim trough adjacent the tire bead. The bead lock is movable between a locked position and an unlocked position. The bead lock includes an actuator positioned in the opening and including an exposed portion accessible from outside the wheel. The bead lock can further include a band positioned in the rim trough and including two free ends movable relative to each other. The bead lock can further include a tightening mechanism secured to the two free ends. For example, the tightening mechanism can include a winch and a cable wrapped around the winch and secured to one of the free ends.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a mounted assembly for heavy machinery, inflated to its rated pressure, constituted of a rim and a tire, the tire comprising a radial carcass reinforcement anchored to two beads, surmounted by a crown reinforcement which itself is surmounted by a tread joined to the beads by sidewalls, the rim being provided with two seats extended by rim hooks and intended to receive the beads of the tire. According to the invention, at least one device external to the tire and to the rim comes to bear, applying a pressure to at least one annular part of a sidewall, said device simultaneously bearing on a rim hook, the device being of toroidal form and defining an inner cavity. The invention also proposes a tire and a process for limiting the flexion of the sidewalls of a tire.
Abstract:
A sealing ring for a vehicle wheel having a tubeless tire with two tire beads that are embodied on the radially inward side thereof. The tubeless tire is mounted on the radially outer side of the multipart rim by the tire beads. The vehicle wheel further comprising a sealing ring which seals the tire radially inward towards the ring, is positioned on the radially outer side of the rim, extends in a peripheral direction along the circumference of the rim and runs between the two tire beads in an axial direction. The sealing ring is configured with a central ring member which is provided with a cylindrical inner surface that is to rest on the outer surface of the rim while being embodied with one respective concentric flexible annular leg which is located on both axial sides of the central ring member and extends diagonally and radially outward in an axial direction from the central ring member. Deformable sealing elements extend along the circumference of the annular leg on the radially inward facing surface and are configured on the end of the leg that faces away from the central ring member.
Abstract:
A method of changing or placing a tread belt 512b onto a two piece tire carcass 514 is described. The method involves jacking the vehicle 600 up so the wheel clears the ground deflating the carcass 514 and pulling a vacuum to partially collapse the carcass 514, placing the tread belt 512b about half way onto the carcass 514 to support the tread belt weight lifting or pushing the tread belt 512b the remainder of the way onto the carcass 514 and inflating the carcass 514.
Abstract:
A wheel structure includes a tire, a hub, pads and fastening elements. The tire has a hollow body with a pair of hub holes to receive the hub therein. Each hub hole is provided with an engaging wall and a securing edge extending outwardly form the engaging wall. The hub has a pair of confining sections at respective ends. Each confining section has a confining groove with a plurality of holes thereon. Each pad is formed with a plurality of locating holes corresponding to the holes of each confining groove so as to secure the pads to the hub and to restrain the tire to the hub securely.
Abstract:
The invention provides an assembly of a pneumatic tire and a rim. The tire has at least one carcass ply 2 and a belt layer 8. The ply 2 is composed of ply cords and has end portions. The belt layer 8 is composed of belt cords provided outside of the ply 2. Each belt cord extends in a direction intersecting the ply cord. Each of the end portions is held in the rim 12. The width of the tire is maximum in a circumferential cross section “T” with a cylindrical shape with respect to the center axis “D” of the tire. The cross section “T” extends through the rim 10. When the tire is rolled under a load and a stress is applied on the tire as an arrow “X”, a neighboring portion 2d near the end portions 2a, 2b is considerably bending-deformed as arrows “Y” to absorb the stress. The roundness of the belt layer 8 is thus preserved to reduce the rolling resistance of the tire considerably.
Abstract:
A multi-wheel assembly includes an outer wheel having an outer wheel assembly for an outer tire. The outer wheel assembly includes an outer wheel rim, a removable from bead seat band such that the outer tire may be removed from the outer wheel rim. A removable rear bead seat band is also provided. The multi-wheel assembly also includes an inner wheel having an inner wheel assembly including a inner wheel rim and a removable front bead seat which is radially expandable and able to pass over the outer wheel rim. The dimensions of the outer wheel rim are such that the inner tire is able to pass over the outer wheel rim. A radially expandable bead seat band is also disclosed. A method of removing a tire is disclosed as well as a method of modifying a wheel assembly.
Abstract:
Disclosed are a run-flat tire and a tire/wheel assembly in which the workability of the tire-to-rim fit has been improved while including a core-type run-flat support member. The tire/wheel assembly is formed by coupling a pneumatic tire and a rim of a wheel. In the tire/wheel assembly, the run-flat support member constituted of a circular shell and elastic rings is inserted into a cavity of the pneumatic tire, in which the circular shell has a support surface thereof extended toward the periphery of the tire and leg portions along each side of the support surface, and the elastic rings support the leg portions of the circular shell on the rim. At the same time, a seat portion and an engaging portion are provided for at least one of the elastic rings, in which the leg portion of the circular shell can be settled on the seat portion, and the engaging portion is extended in an outer tire axial direction from the seat portion and sandwiched between a tire bead base and a rim seat.
Abstract:
A linear tire and wheel assembly comprising a hub having spaced flanges on which are mounted an inner tube surrounded by a jacket over which a tire casing is mounted so that inflation of the inner tube results in the formation of a tire mounted on said hub. The jacket is made of flexible material which takes a predetermined shape when enlarged by the inflation of the inner tube. Air under pressure is supplied through one of the flanges.
