This disclosure relates to the release of singlet oxygen by thermally activated decomposition of aromatic endoperoxide molecules in material systems [e.g. polymer (nano)particles or polymer films]. Due to the short lifespan and diffusion length of singlet oxygen, the technical problem is that the majority of the decomposition may only take place if the singlet oxygen molecules can reach the target region. For example, either the penetration of the polymer particles into the cancer cells to be killed, or the settlement of bacteria on an implant coated with the polymer film, must be accomplished. It is necessary to allow adaptation of the time progression of the decomposition for the application. The adaptation is performed by chemically and/or physically modifying the functional structures present in the material system, each made of the molecule forming the endoperoxide and at least one adjacent molecule or the cage formed by all adjacent molecules. Potential applications are in pharmacy and medicine, as well as in production technology.

The present invention provides an effective oxygen generating materials, carbon dioxide absorbing materials, and transport system and transport method of live fishery products for use upon transporting live fishery products. An oxygen generating materials of the present invention is prepared by packaging solid peroxide and peroxide decomposition catalyst with a moisture-permeable material having a cup method moisture permeability (40null C., 90% RH) of more than 20 g/m2/24 hr and being impervious to water at normal pressure. Furthermore, a carbon dioxide absorbing materials are prepared by packaging alkaline earth metal hydroxide and/or oxide with a gas-permeable material having a Gurley method gas permeability (JIS P8117) of 0.1null3000 sec./100 ml of gas and being impervious to water at normal pressure. Moreover, the transport system of live fishery products are a transport system wherein the oxygen generating materials and carbon dioxide absorbing materials pertaining to the present invention are sealed inside a transport bag.

A gas-loading and packaging system is provided for loading a solid material used in a hydrogen fuel cell with gas and packaging the solid material in a sealed container. The gas may comprise a hydrogen gas or other gas. The solid material may, for example, comprise palladium, a nickel alloy, platinum, or other metal. The solid material is loaded with gas by exposing the solid material to the gas under high pressure. When the solid material is exposed to gas under pressure, the gas absorbs into or adsorbs onto the solid material. The mass of the solid material is continuously monitored and used to determine when the solid material is loaded with the desired amount of gas. After the solid material is loaded with gas, high pressure is maintained while the solid material is packaged in a sealed container that is capable of retaining the high pressure gas.
