Abstract:
An elevator load bearing assembly (30) includes a jacket (34) having different portions comprising different polymer compositions. In a disclosed example, a plurality of tension members (32) are at least partially surrounded by a first portion (36) comprising a first polymer composition. A second portion (38) establishes at least one exterior surface (40) of the jacket (34) and comprises a second polymer composition. In one example, a surface-modifying agent is added to alter the composition of at least a portion of the jacket (34). In another example, co-extrusion techniques using different polymer compositions establish different portions of the jacket (34).
Abstract:
An exemplary assembly includes at least one elongated tension member (32). A jacket covers at least some of the tension member (32). The jacket comprises a polymer material (68,64) including an adhesion enhancer (62) that facilitates adhesion between the tension member and the jacket.
Abstract:
An exemplary load bearing member for use in an elevator system is made by a process that includes heating at least one tension member. The heated tension member is placed adjacent one side of a first jacket layer. The first jacket layer is at least partially melted in the vicinity of the heated tension member such that the tension member at least partially penetrates the first jacket layer. Subsequently, a second jacket layer is added adjacent to the one side of the first jacket layer such that the elongated tension member is between the first and second jacket layers. The second jacket layer is at least partially melted in the vicinity of the heated tension member such that the tension member at least partially penetrates the second jacket layer. The first and second jacket layers are secured together such that the resulting load bearing member has a planar traction.
Abstract:
An elevator includes a car, a counterweight, a suspension working together with the car and the counterweight, and a wheel at least partially wound around by the suspension, wherein the suspension comprises a tie beam arrangement made of two tie beams and a shell encasing the tie beam arrangement, said shell comprising a longitudinal structure in an area of an outer surface partially winding around the wheel, and wherein the ratio of the width of the suspension to the height thereof is greater than one and less than or equal to three. The wheel comprises a groove for guiding the suspension on the sides, in which the suspension is at least partially received, and the groove floor thereof being formed flat. The shell is coated, at least in areas, on the outer surface thereof, wherein the coating optionally has a friction-reducing, friction-increasing, and/or wear-reducing effect.
Abstract:
A mooring member comprises a rope configured for extending between a vessel floating in a body of water and an anchoring device. The mooring member comprises a plurality of functional elements, wherein a first functional element is wound onto at least a portion of the rope, a second functional element is wound onto the first functional element, and so on, until an outermost functional element is wound onto a second-to-outermost functional element. The functional elements are wound in a helical configuration, and are configured to provide at least one of the following functions: damage protection, buoyancy, optical detection, sonar detection, stiffness control, and anti-fouling.
Abstract:
An exemplary method of making a load bearing elevator traction belt includes applying individual coatings of a jacket material to each of a plurality of tension members such that each tension member is individually coated separately from the other tension members. A portion of the individual coatings are joined together to secure the tension members into a desired alignment and to form a single jacket that establishes a geometry of the belt.
Abstract:
An exemplary assembly includes at least one elongated tension member (32). A jacket covers at least some of the tension member (32). The jacket comprises a polymer material (68,64) including an adhesion enhancer (62) that facilitates adhesion between the tension member and the jacket.
Abstract:
A flexible traction organ that can be wound and unwound, in particular for passenger and/or goods lifts, said organ comprising at least one stranded cable consisting of a tensile resistant material. The core strand of each stranded cable is surrounded by a flexible thermoplastic plastic layer. A production line for embedding several stranded cables in a flexible thermoplastic layer comprises a respective reel for unwinding the stranded cable, a device for accurately aligning the stranded cable, a heating element for pre-heating the stranded cable, at least one extruder for co-extruding the stranded cable in a flexible plastic sheathing, a cooling vat, a reel storage unit, a cutting unit and a reserve reel. The extruder, a wire guide and at least one die can be adjusted individually, conjointly and in relation to one another on a plane (P) that runs at an angle to the cable plane (E). The unwound stranded cables are degreased and/or pre-treated to improve the adhesion of the plastic sheathing, and pre-heated to a temperature of approximately ±20° C. in relation to the melting temperature of the flexible, thermoplastic plastic that surrounds the core strand and are sheathed with liquefied plastic in the extruder.
Abstract:
A support for an elevator installation includes at least two cables of several strands each, which are designed for acceptance of force in longitudinal direction, and wherein the cables are arranged along the longitudinal direction at a spacing from one another and are connected by a cable casing, which forms a web between the two cables. Connectors are provided in the region of the web, wherein the connectors are so designed that they enable a guided relative movement of the cables relative to one another in the longitudinal direction.
Abstract:
A rope apparatus includes two ropes of synthetic fiber strands arranged for taking up force applied in a lengthwise direction. The ropes are arranged a predetermined distance apart and are fixed by a rope sheathing forming a fixed link running in the lengthwise direction between the two ropes. The rope apparatus also has at least one reinforcement element for the mechanical reinforcement of the rope sheathing.
