Abstract: An elevator system includes a car or platform to transport passengers and/or goods as well as a counterweight, which are arranged as traversable or movable along a travel path, and which are coupled and/or with a drive by a suspension element interrelating their motion. The suspension element is guided and/or driven by a traction sheave and/or a drive shaft and/or a deflecting pulley. The suspension element is a sheathed and/or belt-type, with a first layer made of a first plasticizable and/or elastomeric material and a second layer with a connection plane formed between the first and second layers. At least one tension member—rope-type, tissue-type, or comprising a multitude of partial elements—is embedded in an area of the connection plane, a majority of a surface of said at least one tension member directly contacting said first layer. A manufacturing procedure for one of the suspension elements is provided.

Abstract: The flattened strand rope of the invention comprises wedge-shaped strands, each made up of wires wound on a core. At least a portion of the strand wires are fashioned as twisted wire groups in which the wires are sector-shaped and in contact with each other over helical surfaces. With such a structural embodiment of the flattened strand wire, use can be made of thin and, consequently, stronger and more flexible wires, thereby increasing the strength and flexibility of the rope and making for the use of the rope in the various branches of industry, including lifting mechanisms with large or small drum diameters.

Abstract: The invention pertains to the production of cables and can be used for reinforcing single-block constructions and other articles made of concrete. The purpose of the invention is to create a self-rectifying reinforcing member. The reinforcement cable comprises a central wire and layer-forming wires spirally wound around the same and having a periodical profile. A periodical profile is applied on the outer section of the surface of the layer-forming wires and is made in the form of inclined protrusions above the generatrix of the crimped surface of the cable. The sections of the surface of the layer-forming wires in contact with other wires are made in the form of spirally-arranged planar flats.

Abstract: A method of manufacturing twisted wire products having a core and at least one outer layer of wires laid about the core consists in arranging the outer layer of wires in two groups during manufacture; one group, which is a substantial fraction of the number of wires in the outer layer is twisted and disposed in contact with the core so as to form as many peripheral gaps as there are remaining wires other than those in the fraction; the second group of wires which are the remaining wires are disposed in periphearl gaps so formed, and laid radially away from the core and in contact with adjacent wires of the first group; the outer layer so arranged in two groups is subjected to radially compressive deforming forces so as to wedge the conductors of the second group into the peripheral gaps so as to produce a tight and improved twisted wire product. Circular wires of the same diameter may be used for the core and the outer layer. Twisted wire products having a plurality of outer layers may be produced by forming single outer layers as said and building them in succession; alternatively, the product may be formed in a single stage of plastic deformation and subsequent thermal treatment as required. The core may be of circular, oval, oblong or triangular shape.

Abstract: The disclosed method of making a shape-stranded rope includes twisting large wires into strands by twining them in at least one layer about a core with a sheathing of a soft deformable material, plastic drawing of the strands, forming the strands into a shaped profile and twisting the strands into the rope. The plastic drawing is effected until every round wire of the strand acquires a wedge-like profile, with the wires adjoining the sheathing becoming partly embedded in this sheathing, and the strand acquires a substantially smooth peripheral surface. The method enables, while using round wires, to increase the structural density of the strands, and also to enhance the flexibility, strength and wear resistance of the shape-stranded rope, the rope manufactured by the disclosed method being usable by various industries.
