Each engine cylinder is associated with a respective one of the emission reduction components, such that exhaust gas from each engine cylinder flows through the respective one emission reduction component in parallel with the exhaust gas flows from the other cylinders through their respective emission reduction components.

    摘要: The present invention generally relates to a new valve guide for use in an exhaust valve system. Specifically, the invention is related to a valve guide that prevents acidic corrosion between the valve and the valve guide. The valve guide includes a number of contact portions, which engage the channel that is formed in the cylinder head near the exhaust port. The valve guide also includes a recess portion, situated in relation to a water jacket and between the contact portions. The recess portion and contact portions are sized and shaped to maintain the surface temperature of the valve guide to prevent condensation of acidic gases between the valve stem and the valve guide.

    摘要: An accurate method of determining the power developed by selected cylinders of a multiple cylinder engine is based on the concept of controlling engine rpm for test purposes by adjusting the load on the engine instead of controlling speed by adjusting the fuel rate as is commonly done in normal engine operation. The method may be utilized for evaluating cylinder performance and for accurately balancing the output of the individual cylinders. It is particularly useful in railroad applications where the engine operates a generator that produces electric power and the system is provided with dynamic braking grids, which can be utilized as resistor grids for load testing the engine. However, the method is also applicable to other engines and other engine arrangements where engine power may be absorbed by a generator or dynamometer for controlling the load for test purposes.

The rail conditioning system includes a valve element provided in fluid communication with the first and second nozzles. The rail conditioning system further includes a control module in communication with the valve element.
