    Abstract: Various embodiments comprise systems, methods, architectures, mechanisms and apparatus for managing user equipment (UE) communications in a converged network by causing such UE to automatically select a “best” wireless network (cellular RAN/WiFi) without any user notification/interaction to the user of the UE, such as via the device user interface (UI). The best wireless network may be determined using contemporaneous QoS related measurements, or predicted QoS measurements such as provided by a RAN node or channel QoS model generated via machine learning techniques, which may also be used to determine a type of QoS needed for each application or service commonly invoked at the UE so as to automatically provide the best possible user experience without any user intervention.

    Abstract: A streaming service updates a manifest to include a location of an encoded version of a program that is available for streaming and a restriction marker indicating that the program is restricted. A request for the manifest is received from a client device. Subsequent to providing the manifest to the client device, a request for authorization to stream the program is received from the client device, the request for authorization including client device metadata. Based on the client device metadata and blackout metadata associated with the program, it is determined that the client device is not authorized to stream the program. The streaming service sends, to the client device, slate information that identifies a slate image to be presented by the client device in lieu of the program.

    Abstract: Apparatus and methods for repeater/extender operation of a wireless-enabled device, including for extending the range or coverage in a wireless network subject to poor signal propagation or obstructions. In one embodiment, the apparatus and methods leverage use of a CPE (consumer premises equipment) configured as a 5G mmWave extender to extend RF signals from one or more base stations (e.g., a NodeB) to one or more other premises. In one variant, the CPE includes (i) a internal unit configured to provide 5G and Wi-Fi services to local UE, as well as other standard CPE functions; (ii) a donor apparatus configured to receive/transmit 5G signals to/from the one or more base stations; and (iii) a service apparatus configured to radiate 5G signals to UE/CPE with weak or no NodeB connectivity. The CPE is configured to create and dynamically update a weighted beam matrix used to select beams.

    Abstract: In a system, a load balancer transmits, to a selected content origin node, a first content request based on a first request for first requested content received from a client node, the selected content origin node transmits, to the load balancer, a first response to the first content request, wherein the selected content origin node has the first requested content, and the load balancer transmits, to the client node, a first redirect message identifying the selected content origin node as having the first requested content without transmitting the first requested content to the client node. In some implementations, the selected content origin node transmits the first redirect message as the first response. In other implementations, the first response from the selected content origin node contains the first requested content, and the load balancer converts the first response into the first redirect message.
