Abstract:
A mobile communication terminal and method are provided. The terminal displays an animation icon associated with active information on a wait screen. A determination is made as to whether a motion of the animation icon is associated with active information of the mobile communication terminal, and the animation icon according to the active information is moved when the motion of the animation icon is associated with active information. Since the animation icon displayed on the wait screen is associated with the active information, a user can easily check the active information of the mobile communication terminal through the animation icon. Also, the present invention increases visibility of active information of the mobile communication terminal and provides new user interfaces.
Abstract:
A function of displaying a clock visually varying according to state information which can be provided by a mobile communication terminal is implemented. In particular, an analog clock designed to move three-dimensionally, which is formed by adding a graphical factor to state information, such as remaining power of battery and reception sensitivity, of a mobile communication terminal, is displayed. Accordingly, since an analog clock on which specific state information is reflected can be displayed, various personalities of users can be reflected with simultaneously increasing visibility in information delivery.
Abstract:
A method of fabricating a uniformly wrinkled capacitor lower electrode without the need to perform a high-temperature heat treatment and a method of fabricating a capacitor including the uniformly wrinkled capacitor lower electrode are provided. A first conductive layer is formed. Then, a second conductive layer including about 20% to about 50% of impurities is formed on the first conductive layer. Next, at least some of the impurities are exhausted from the second conductive layer by heat treating the second conductive layer. A surface of the second conductive layer is wrinkled due to the exhaustion of the impurities from the second conductive layer. A dielectric layer and an upper capacitor electrode may then be formed.
Abstract:
A method and apparatus of converting a series of data words into modulated signals generates for each data words, a number of intermediate sequences by combining mutually different digital words with a data word, scrambles the intermediate sequences to form alternative sequences, translates each alternataive sequence into a (d,k) constrained sequences, measures for each (d,k) constrained sequences, not only an inclusion rate of an undesired sub-sequence but also a running DSV (Digital Sum Value), and selects one (d,k) constrained sequence having a small inclusion rate for recording on an optical or magneto-optical recording medium among the (d,k) constrained sequences having maximum value of running DSV, smaller than a preset limit. Accordingly, efficient DSV control can be achieved for even relatively-long sequences.
Abstract:
The present invention relates to method and apparatus of converting a series of data words into modulated signals. This method divides a data word, which a sync signal is to be added in front or rear of when it is written in a recording medium, into two or more word segments, generates for each word segment a number of intermediate sequences by combining mutually different digital words with that word segment, scrambles these intermediate sequences to form alternative sequences, translates each alternative sequence into a (d, k) constrained sequence, checks how many undesired sub-sequences are contained in each (d, k) constrained sequence, and selects one (d, k) constrained sequence for recording on an optical or magneto-optical recording medium among the (d, k) constrained sequences not having the undesired sub-sequence. Applying this method to a modulating device, DSV control can be conducted by much simpler hardware.
Abstract:
A portable optical disc apparatus made into a slim-type apparatus and an optical disc adapted for the portable optical disc apparatus are disclosed. In the portable optical disc apparatus, a pickup is secured onto a base, and a movable member in the pickup is operated to access only an area within a specific radius range that is a partial area of the optical disc.
Abstract:
An optical recording medium with a number of recording layers that is adaptive for enhancing a light efficiency and for improving a responsibility of information and a recording capacity. In the optical recording medium, at least one of recording layers in the number of recording layers are formed of a material having a non-linear optical characteristic. The recording layer made from the non-linear optical characteristic material has a higher reflective coefficient as a light intensity becomes stronger, thereby improving a light efficiency when a recording layer far away from the light source is accessed. Also, the recording layer made from the non-linear optical characteristic allows an effective diameter of a light spot to be reduced, thereby enlarging a recording capacity of the optical recording medium.

Abstract:
Nanocrystalline metal powders comprising tungsten, molybdenum, rhenium and/or niobium can be synthesized using a combustion reaction. Methods for synthesizing the nanocrystalline metal powders are characterized by forming a combustion synthesis solution by dissolving in water an oxidizer, a fuel, and a base-soluble, ammonium precursor of tungsten, molybdenum, rhenium, or niobium in amounts that yield a stoichiometric burn when combusted. The combustion synthesis solution is then heated to a temperature sufficient to substantially remove water and to initiate a self-sustaining combustion reaction. The resulting powder can be subsequently reduced to metal form by heating in a reducing gas environment.
